Agreed, and I will also be using a courier company again this year.

That said, The one thing that REALLY bugs me about them, (and they all do this) is if you are tall, they just sommer lower your saddle post without consultation to fit the bike into their box. So you pick your bike up, and have to mess around with your setup. Even worse, they scratch a mark on your carbon post. Crikey, I’m getting more pissed off about this the more I write this. Breathe!

if you know they do it, why don’t you be proactive, mark your seat post your way and drop the saddle.

Not saying what they do is right though.

The courier company I am using say they don't need to do that. It sounds like they have racks of some sort and the bike doesn't go into a box at all. First time I am going this route and am looking forward to it. Stripping a tandem down to basically nothing to go onto the plane is a schlep. I would also not be happy about my seat being dropped if i hadn't planned on it happening. I have my bike fit details on my phone so if it does happen I can always just get/borrow a measuring tape and check.

soo.... seems all the love for the CTCT has been around the road race, not that much activity around the MTB race, which is just a few days away...

The road race has too many controversies to keep us occupied, so there is no time to chat about the MTB race haha

Is the MTB portion the new surface up chappies?

Saw photos of that surface, not really worried, for me in the Free State that looks like some good tar, nothing to worry about

Seriously though, I would hazard to guess that that surface is much better than most of the platteland riders get to train on.

Did that section again the past weekend, and there is NOTHING wrong with it. A bit noisy under the skinny tires, but not bumpy or uneven, and I had way more confidence with that surface into the corners, than with the previous "smooth" surface.

I love how substitutions close tomorrow, yet people are STILL listing entries for sale for the full price (or close to it). Especially taking into account that you'll still need to submit a consent letter, pay the substitution fee, and all that jazz before COB tomorrow afternoon.

I would understand if race entries were a rare commodity at the moment, but the supply vs demand is completely twisted right now. There are 7 million entries for sale and not a soul to buy them.

Cut your losses folks. Better to make a portion of your cash back than nothing at all.

Why does this bother you so much?  Looking for a cheap entry?  I'm sure if you offer some of these guys 50% of face value they'll accept it by now.  Any less and the trouble of writing the letter might be too much.

I can't enter yet unfortunately, it would be pointless. Being more into MTB and relatively new to the cycling scene, I only recently got myself a road bike and still have a long ways to go before I can attempt a 100km road race with any hopes of finishing it. My fitness leaves a lot to be desired at the moment.

It's not that it bothers me, but it confuses me that's all :D I'm trying to see the reasoning behind taking the risk of potentially forfeiting so many entries so close to the cutoff time.

I have cut my losses.  Full R540.  My entry dies with me
