Modderfontein Bike Park - what's happening

Rode some Red and some Orange at the Taroko Trail park today. Was very impressed with the quality of the trails and overall park setup. It was also nice to see a good turnout for both the MTB trails and walking/running trails. I'll definitely be supporting this venue.

I do wish my R50 trail entrance fee allowed me to enter the Farmers Market for free, especially since there was nowhere else to grab a post ride coffee and roll... Seems strange to pay to enter and then have to pay to enter to pay for a coffee :P

That's why we support the coffee shop at Flamingo Mall. They have a bike stand and have a cyclists breakfast with coffee for R70.

Did a ride yesterday afternoon. Looks like the Harrier hawk is back at it in the river section.

Got a proper scare when I was dive bombed by this stealthy bird.

Beware!

Not sure if I posted this here yet but that is cool! I saw the bird yesterday in the first few km. The long jeep track drag on the perimeter.

Wow. This is absolutely amazing! Were you not scared?

I rode there today, but did not encounter the bird. Thankfully.

I got zapped on the helmet yesterday morning..

I think it's a black sparrowhawk for last year's comments. It sometimes comes and pays a visit to our eastate. It is much bigger than I imagined.

Others already answered on it's identification

Feeling is believing...that bird and Klap you hard on the helmet. Take care.

How's the single track riding at the moment? Want to start there again as soon as the mud dries up!

Trailwolf cycles now offers coffees. Let's show this newly relocated business some support.

Yup, the Sparrow Hawk is definitely back, it swooped in on me twice today, didnt get as close as it did last year, but definitely close enough that you can hear it swooping down, it also stayed silent today, last year it called out before attacking, today it just "attacked"

I wonder if its the same bird.

If so, I also wonder if there is any merit in just shooting it and finished, before anyone gets hurt.

Shoot it?

Yes, isn’t that what historically happens when wild animals attack humans? Nothing to do with the humans, always the animals fault..
