Think we might have used all the "perfect"  weather luck today at the MTB race

Windguru doesn't have good news for Sunday....

The problem with coming from out of town is that it's an expensive weekend if you can't justify it by riding the CTCT. I'm driving down so I'm going to bring my Hardtail and if the wind is crazy, ride that and take it easy.

Jip. If you can take leave and make a long weekend or week out of it with the family, then it becomes "worth it" even of the cycle tour rains/blows/burns out.

We used to do it for the Knysna races.

But motivating the family to spend a week in the Garden route is much easier than Cape Town for me. Maybe we should make a plan to get to the Oyster festival again this year.

Which model are people looking at on Winguru? Because for CT I'm seeing - in knots - much lower - and liveable - numbers.

I live in the Garden Route so the weekend in the city is an adventure for us.  The Oyster festival is always worthwhile and you can get 2 races in on the weekend.  I really enjoy the MTB event as long as you get a decent enough seeding to avoid the congestion.

Windguru for Simon's Town.

Values indicated in kilometers per hour. If the race is called of again next week, I predict the demise of the world's largest timed fun-ride. I am giving this a last hurrah, as it has just become too fickle over the last 5 or so years.

Still to early for the weather, I'll wait till Thursday

Exactly, this is Cape Town after all.

Windguru has already decreased the wind prediction in Muizenberg by 10km/hr since yesterday...now it's a much more manageable 45km/hr ????️

I feel like some people need to drink some cement this week. . . At least then you won’t have to worry about the wind. . . Goodness people, are we only fair weather cyclists?

That's not the issue. I've ridden in gale force winds and enjoyed it too. But that wasn't in a race pack. It's not the wind per se that's the problem but the consequent high speed crashes - which can result in extremely severe injuries, even fatalities. There's a difference between being tough and being stupid.

I am more concerned about the snowflakes cancelling the race due to safety concerns. In that case last year would have been my last CTCT ever. I actually love riding into a headwind. It keeps me cool.
