The detail of the redesign is sketchy (pun intended) so let's see how that works out but at face value it looks to rely solely on the rubber plug to work making it a wear item...

notggood either.

Hopefully the redesign will feature a thinner seat wedge and a thicker seat post (at the bottom). It'll remove some of the flex/comfort but help solve the problem.

Side note: In most of the Aeroads I built the wedge had come loose and fallen into the frame. Fishing it out of the BB was the easy part - getting the wedge lined up so you can screw in the bolt from the outside not so much!

Also a good thing the super tuck got banned . They won’t have to worry about too tube warranty claims anymore

When the UCI said the consulted with the bike industry, they just took a phone call from Canyon Warranty department.

Toptube aerotuck debacle

Seatpost debacle

handlebar breaks and everyone jumps to justified conclusion that its Canyon poor quality...

Yet its not uncommon for the bars to delaminate and break at this point. Why?

Some bars have the upper flat section bonded to the lower drops at this point

Some people/mechanics overtighten the shifter clamp band crushing the laminate at this point.

Highly unfortunate that this is now so  publicly displayed on a Canyon. lets not discount the MVDP power factor....the okes a beast

if it's just one bar it doesn"t mean anything. if there are more it could be bad

but it could very well be a matter of over tightening the shifters seing where it broke...

Lets see how this plays out. it could be a bad bar, t could be a bad design (Canyon building a reputation for this) it could be poor installation or it could be due to damage incurred during transport from the UAE. This one isn't as clear cut as the seatpost or aerotuck failures

How Canyon had wished the marketing department had not splashed a massive logo on the bars in white.

Coming from a company that acknowledges that the design things to give world pros the edge to win and that things may break from time to time, not surprising.

hahaha !

I really hope no world tour mechanic tightens stuff on carbon bars without a torque wrench though...

I’d be very surprised, ja.

What I like about Canyon is the innovation like the adjustable bars. Their testing is solid. Ze Germans can engineer. Fortunately, Mathieu did not crash as a result of the tech failure. That would’ve been hectic for the brand and they’re already getting knocked.

I’d happily settle for being able to ride like him with a broken handlebar top tube and seatpost at the same time Edited by Wayne pudding Mol
