Cape Town Cycle Tour 2020

Long Wheel Base

Recommended Posts

Much like entrance to Cape Point reserve goes up 100% between the 15th of December and the 20th of January the back to normal until Easter!

You Gautengers who visit always complain CT is so expensive but that's because most of you only visit when the prices are extortionate and the Capetonians have all left!!

well i cant officially ride the CTCT any other time than 2nd sunday of march. So I'm kinda of bound to that timing.

But I have a Sanparks Green card, which allows me to enter for free

That is of course if I am in my 4.2l v8. If I want to ride the same tar road to the restaurant on my road bike, then  it costs extra   :whistling:  :offtopic:

hahahahaha touche!

But if you visit in August you can ride for free, stay for cheaper and avoid the terrible drivers that come from up north with peak season.....

I'll just leave this here:

Feel free to add yourself, but please don't break it  ;)

Maybe the hubbers can form sub-groups and show everyone how group riding should be done

Curious to see how many hubbers we have in $

Given all the expert knowledge on this thread it should be quite a few  :P

Greetings from a wet and windy UK, Bok supporting South African living in the UK.

I have entered this years race, although for some obscure reason i still call it the Argus :-)

i cycle a lot and it appears that for some reason I'm starting just short of the e bikes when most of you will probably be finished.

Any advice how to get past the masses and get into a decent bunch? It does appear that even though i have appealled, the obvious laid back attitude in Cape Town (my home town) means i might have to wait a long time

if you haven't ridden it in a while...or any of the local premiere seeding races....you'll be seeded with the 1st timers/weekend warriors regardless of your fitness level. There really isn't much you can do to find faster bunches from group 5/6 ish....you could still do a decent time if you so wished i guess...the traffic really is not that bad(after the start that is), you just won't get any of the group riding benefits...as people down there dont really care for that and are there for the experience and free massages at every stop LOL.

PS: I ride down there with my wife. still good fun and i presume a lot more jolly than in the top groups....the dynamic is just different - obviously.

PPS....you should have entered as a foreigner...you would have paid alot more but at least you could have been around group 4 ish lol.

I have heard of a few people who had success in moving up groups when pleading their case at registration (have never heard of someone successfully arguing their case by email). If you have a few results from races you have done as evidence that will help.

LOL i though as someone with an international address i would have been considered to be am international entrant. I was advised to join the PPA to get a reduced rate but i still paid more than the local riders.

I suppose admin is tough of such a big event.
