The 6-9 bit was just a stupid idea..just let the people go walkies until 6pm there will definitely be less congestion.

But if everybody can be out and about all day there is no lock down.

Law enforcement will be powerless. It will almost be like allowing 50 people + staff at every funeral. Oh wait...

This has been implemented from tomorrow here. We are allowed to cycle with no KM barrier or rule but cannot go out your municipality boarder. Some towns have a big boarder, some def do not.

Not saying this is perfect but implementing something like this in SA I think would be a good start over the mass that happened this morning looking at pics. Its busier than anytime I have seen pre Covid.

6-10 am: People 14 and over will be able to exercise alone anywhere within their municipality of residence or go for walks at most 1 km away from home, only once a day and with no time limit within the time slots.

10 am to noon: Dependent persons and their carers will be allowed out, as will anyone over the age of 70

Noon to 7 pm: Minors under 14 years of age can leave home in the company of a parent or guardian, only 1km away from the minor's home and for a maximum of an hour.

7 pm to 8 pm: Dependent persons, their carers, and elderly people can leave home again during this slot

8-11 pm: Once again, people will be permitted to exercise on their own anywhere within their municipality of residence or to go for walks at most 1 km away from home, only once a day and with no time limit within the time slots.

Melkbosstrand and the cycle lane to Blaauwberg were packed.

I'd say people mostly kept their distance, and at least 80% had something to cover their mouth and nose.

At 08h50 as we rolled into Melkbos, there were still several cyclists and runners out, and we had a full convoy of army, metro and SAPS come into the village. Not sure what came of that, as we were home just before 09h00.

It was great to get out, but couldn't help thinking that it was just far too congested and cannot be sustainable. Something's gotta give - either a lengthened time slot (even one hour would help) or a recall of the permission.

I have to say, it was a very emotional sight to see all the families and people outdoors! It brought a big smile to my face but also a small tear to my eye.

We were talking about this a minute ago. Since we started lockdown, I have seen 1 single police car - and they were driving in the opposite direction while I came back from the shops. Nothing else, zero cops nor army presence in 30 something days.

Now I understand there are areas that need more manpower; fair, but I still think there needs to be the tiniest visibility across the board.

I made the mistake of running through Parkhurst on my route this morning, and it was like being at Comrades. Yes there were a lot of masks, but certainly not on everyone, nor was there enough distance or enough socialising disincentive.

Just 1 cop standing on a corner would have kept most people in check, and reminded them what they're supposed to be doing (and wearing).

No it's not a stupid idea. 98% of the people that were out today will be safely watching Netflix and facebooking again from Sunday and people that actually want t exercise will be able to.

I tend to agree with this

Did they really go for a surf[emoji2356]

Suppose they adhered to social distancing better than the lot at the beachfront [emoji6]

Was hectic hey?

Coming down Rustenburg road past Victory Park shopping centre and traffic on the Spruit looked like there was a JUMA going on.

I agree and I hope we both wrong, let's hope its the freedom madness and people chill out next week

I assume the madness will end within a few days.

I suspect within 2 weeks restrictions will be provincial

I see #blacktwitter having a bit of a meltdown on the Sea Point mass participation fun run this morning - apparently a perfect example of #whiteprivilege ....
