Pieter-za Posted April 5, 2020 Share Bike 2 is the 99 trek - I think it was the first full carbon bike to finish at the front of the TDF and it was the first time a customer could go out and buy the same bike off the shelf that the pros were riding. It's a really significant bike marred by the controversial rider. None of Lance's antics can detract from the fact that he got me (and thousands of others) back on a bike. I don't know anyone who quit because he was bustMine is resplendent in period incorrect Super Record 11 and I did the 2018 Argus on it - it lives on old school mag trainer these days and gets ridden when I watch cyclingA slight sidetrack for a moment - coincidentally saw this today : https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/ebay-finds-lance-armstrong-replica-trek-5500-oclv/ Tjommie

Hairy Posted April 5, 2020 Share THE WORK HORSE: GT Meatball She is my daily commuter, and we have done many a thousand km together through good and bad weather. The only orgional components left on the bike is the fixie cog, the frame/fork/headset and brakes. Wheels replaced with a set of Wheels ex. Rook CyclesSaddle is a Spaz Phenom I got from a fellow commuter that was torn, so I indulged in a glass of red wine and decided to re-upholster the saddle is a ox blood leather. This now shows nice wear and tear.Tyres are a new set of 700x35c that managed to fit into the frame and something I am looking forward to giving a spin. She has had a wipe down, a serious clean only happens once or twice a year with her ... as long as the drive train is clean, then all is good to go! Rest of the bits and bobs were replaced for better fit or due breakage. Running the brake line through the GT triple triangle Deluxe Coffee Works Stickers, you have to show your loyalty! Fun fact, the GT Meatball logo reflects/glows in the dark when you shine a light on it or take pic with a flash. Every commuter needs a bell! The D.I.Y Saddle cover job The paint is translucent, so you see the brushed alum underneath. Hairy Posted April 5, 2020 Share THE PLAY BIKE: 2018 YT Jeffsy 29'er Base Model A reasonably recent purchase earlier in the year from Black Sheep Bikes. I was fortunate enough to pic her up as a Demo Bike. She is all stock other than the New Reverb dropper post that replaced the nice to use, but crappy build E-13 dropper. Fell in love with this bike on the first ride, and have never had a bad day out on her. A bit of a rash from being used as a demo bike She has been getting around and will need new takkies soon. Gorilla Tape works well as frame protection. A very simple change made by the RS design team as part of their attempt to make a dropper with a reduced "stack" in order to get more stroke on the dropper. They inverted the rails ... so simple.
