When i saw "SPD Sandals" and opened this thread, i was getting ready to laugh....but once opening the link and seeing it, i think it is quite nice. Only for casual riding where you will be riding slow, perhaps with the little kids. Any aggressive / fast riding needs to be closed shoes. However, I don't think i would try it.

I remember in BMX days i rode one day with plakkies and stubbed my toe on tarmac, nail was just clinging on and the pain was something else....since that day I'm scared to mix bicycles and sandals. Still traumatized.  :D

Surely you also got the BMX steel pedal designed by satan smack your shin? Usually happened when your foot slipped off the pedal resulting in an extremely fast back pedal with the result being the pedal with its steel spikes moering in to the shin. Good memories....

I could do with a pair of these sandles for when I am riding around with my laaities....

Wellgo Beartraps. I wanted a pair more than I wanted my next breath. You can still get them. But truthfully they look a little kuk by modern standards.

I cut myself from ankle to knee once during my trials days. A pair of Vans just didn't grip all that well.
