Definitely can't afford time off from training at the moment so I'm keeping well away from getting sick. 2 years and counting and still free from catching this thing. I plan on staying negative for as long as possible too.

Had my first and second shots and the side effects were mild so I skipped training for a few days to be safe.

I won't be taking the booster though. Definitely not needed with the virus appearing to burn out in the next year +-

As for training after getting sick. I'm seeing so many people jump back into it after a week or so from "recovering" and then complaining about bonking and heart rates spiking etc etc.

It blows my mind that people think a viral infection is completely cleared when the symptoms are no longer felt. Give it at least a month for your body to properly recover before you train again. Had family members die from training too soon. 25 year old in perfect health collapsed in the gym from a massive heart attack. Can't say it is related to getting covid but it sure looks a bit suspicious to me.

Had my booster shot last week Friday and have never felt so crap in my life before. Even having Covid last year felt better (LOL).

Interesting how wildly different COVID and the vaccines for it affect people.
My wife and I had our boosters (Pfizer) on 26th Feb, and apart from the typical minor injection site pain, not a single side effect. In fact, the only side effect we had with all the Covid vaccinations was a bit of a rash on my wife's shoulder after the second dose.

Similar situation for both my parents, basically no side effects.

Slightly off topic.

Whole body ached, fever, Head Ache (Thankfully these have subsided), severe stomach cramps which are still persisting.

Needless to say, have not been on the bike since last week Thursday.

Same here except for the stomach cramps - so I guess it could have been worse...

I was the only one in my family that felt like this though - even my 80 year old unfit Mom had no symptoms other than a bit of a sore arm!

Recover 10 minutes, and then Repeat once more!

That should be in comic sans - NEVER do anywhere near max when you are sick/recovering.

People should know I'm rarely serious about anything I post here.

My wife had mild symptoms after the 1st and 2nd shot.  NO issues after the booster.

I was fine after the first two.  After the booster I had a bit of fever and was "tired" for a few days.

You're lagging . . . or are you . . . 🤨 /comic sans/ - also just in case

I have listened to a couple okes in the building I'm currently working in moan about the booster and how it makes them feel.

I'm gonna pass.

Got my two Pfizers when I was due, only side-effect was the sore arm. I'm considering going for the Booster, but to do it with the J&J this time round, just to stimulate the immune system with something different. I also need to do my Flu Shot before winter comes.

I REALLY detest getting sick, it sucks. Plus, I have a marathon to train for in May, so can not really afford 2 weeks on the couch. I'd rather take a couple of day's worth of side effects from a shot.

so basically 'manflu'?  haha

i'm lagging - but in an anglicised way to say 'laugh' in afrikaans i guess  😁

PS, i'm also still due my 3rd dose. i'm also a bit over it all though.  My mother is here from OZ, she has had 4 doses already and 0 side effects after each one... even though she has underlying chronic blood issues.

I know of people that have had the J&J booster after having the Pfizer and they say the worst decision ever. Both were as sick as ever.

I have rotator cuff issues in both shoulders. About a week after my first jab, in July '21, I felt like I'd inured my left shoulder (again). It didn't subside until about a week after my second jab when it got far worse. I couldn't remember doing something daft to injure it. Ended up at a shoulder specialist and I mentioned the episodes to him and he said 'ja, that could be related to the jab and an inflammatory response'

anyway, long story short, in a month I'm having acromioplasty to hopefully sort things out. Could the flare up be related to the jabs? I'm not sure, but I'm not having a third, if that's OK

I'm not asking anyone's permission. I am not getting the 3rd, 4th and nth jab. The first two were out of a concern for the actual pandemic. Now it has become a woke virtue signal, and I refuse to partake any further in this insanity.

Friends that are planning overseas trips are stepping back and not taking the booster "now".  They are watching their destination country's requirements, and "timing" any possible booster to best suit their planned arrival dates.

Also know a number of medical staff that delayed getting the J&J booster, and are now getting the Phizer  (effectively their second shot)

For the general public, not impacted by travel or work requirements, very few are going for the booster.  To the point where SA is facing significant stocks of vaccines about to expire.
