Cracking rims (Specialized)

This is what a brand new set of Specialized wheels did after a 5km ride.  I don't know which model this is.  Shocking!!!  As far as I can see, only the rear whe cracked. 

 

P.s. I only weigh around 74kg.

I assume you contacted the store etc and got the issue resolved considering they are brand new before relying on a Friday post?

Would be worth noting the model number/code etc. 

Anyway, get hold of your dealer first if you haven't. Enough Friday for now. peas

Then surely tossing em under the bus on a Friday afternoon is a little overreacting?

Things break occasionally...right out the store. It sucks, but it can and does happen with anything. What is more important, as I am sure you care aware, is how the shop/seller etc deals with it.

I never intended to start a mob or anything.  I just showed what happened and I'm just a bit disappointed.  Thats all.

New or used, 5km or 5000km is irrelevant. What matters is what transpired when the cracks happened, i.e. what kind of riding was done. Were the wheels subject to some BIG hits from large jumps and drop-offs?

My reason for quering is that I've hit the odd jump and landed hard and had the exact same outcome to my rim. Also Spez Roval Traverse 29.

I'm not making any assumptions. Merely curious.

My bet is they were cracked before the ride, who built the wheels up?

I'm a bit surprised that you say you don't  know which model wheels ????‍♀️, are they your wheels?

For what its worth... I have the exact same type of cracks on a set of DT Swiss road wheels for a few years and km's, the wheels were built by DT Swiss Switzerland +/- 2004 and sent back after a few rides because the wheels were tinging ang pinging during rides (the same kind of noise when you first ride a newly built wheel) except it never went away. They (DT Swiss) then tensioned the spokes a lot more and they never made another sound and remained true for ever. A few years ago i noticed the cracks and continued riding with them... no problems except my teeth ???? got nervous on fast downhill sections... The bike is now permanently installed on my IDT...

My wheels yes, but there is nothing on the wheels, except for the 622x30 next to the valve.  I think it came of from a bike.  So I assume Spez built it.
