so, who came close to 'our' spreadsheet goals?

My goal was 3:50.  Ended up waiting 3 minutes at the end of Main Road, and came in at 3:50:50 on my Garmin (mat-to-mat)

Racetec added 9 minutes ....

Ah. OK. I had no idea.
Thanks

Sent the lawyers letter yet? :P

Mine is not there as I never changed the number board which had the timing chip on it.

My very average first 109km was improved drastically by doing the short one afterwards.

Longest ride he has done, told me we can throw away all my DC medals as this one is the best. He greeted about 800 people. He did his max speed of 54.1km/h as he said he could not hear me saying slow down. He is slightly upset he has been training on gravel tires as road tires are much faster...

Yes, his bars are @Sid the Sloth inspired. I also blame the bum bag on Dan as well.

Our figures:

Position: 132/768

Gender position: 93/516

Group position: 23/172

Righto. Moving onto 2024. Anybody have an idea of who to actually speak to wrt moving the race a week earlier to accommodate the Muslim riders?

i think the best bet would be get some if not all of the cape flats/ southern suburb clubs to draw up something and forward onto the cycle tour organizers... most of them are majority Muslim riders, the same could be for the guys from up country lots of Muslim riders from PE, DBN and JHB.

it may work for next year by moving it one week earlier, but it won't be the same for the years thereafter

There were many tandems with dad and a primary school kid 👍 (109km)

Would LOVE to do this with Maritz

At 18k for 2023 riders and possibly less maybe 5-6k muslim riders for 2024 would be a bleak picture... Would be interesting to see how it unfolds

Curious - would this be an issue for the Epic as well?

If we are lucky 2024 could be a possibility without moving the race, current calendars point to first day of fasting on 11th March 2024. Let's hope the Maan kykers concur.

My first year riding in the earlier groups, started 1B. The crash happened just to the left of me.

Tried to hold on to the front of the group up Edinburgh, got boxed in to the main group while watching the front of 1B break away.

Was a good learning experience for me. The start was frantic. I had hoped the guys would be more organized at the earlier start groups.

Do things like signalling not apply in the early start groups ?

Simonstown area didn't feel like a race, felt more like a coffee ride.

Saddle dropped somewhere after Smits, smashed my quads for the remainder of the race.

Managed to finish on PB of 3:16.

Glad to have finished safely.

Lots more training needed before I am ready for a proper sub 3 attempt.

Two laps of the Argus course would really make a spectacular World Champs for Elite Men, hey.

If you got hurt, so sorry, man. Dis eina. Get better soon.😘

If you were an asshole out there being rude and uncaring of others' well-being, do better, Bruuuu. Yes, I know you were under pressure to perform. Just do better next time, Sweetie.😘

To all the enthusiasts and professionals from other provinces and countries, so glad you made the trip.😘

To the weekend warrior, don't hang up your blerrie bike. How do you think she will feel? Keep. On. Going.😉

Respect!😎
