Been off the bike for two weeks, ( avoiding this thread) thought it would be a good idea to join a group ride for a chill ride to ease into things....

Went to Hobby park, but we rode ( read walk, ride, walk, walk, ride) up the gulley at the back of silverstar casino, paid at reception, and rode the trails.

Spoke to darren briefly, they are back in high court soon about heia safari, sounded very positive.

Went back down the gulley to muldersdrift, back of the quarry and eventually home.

64 kms almost 800m of ascent. Legs disintegrated.

I had to consume copious amounts of beer to numb the pain, and had a most enjoyable braai day.

Had the day off, waited for the wife to get home from work, we left just after two for a low intensity ride. About halfway through, i notice heavy cloud has rolled in, and a thunderstorm was imminent. It was damn hot, and i thought a couple of raindrops will not go amiss.

15 mins later we were being pelted with rain, wind pumping. Rode through some serious thunder, had lighting make ground contact quite close to us on some of the higher areas we were riding past. Kept going, had some reprieve,e but it was pretty much wet and wild all the way home. Pretty damn nice ride despite the elements.

The overexposed pic does not do the dirtiness of my bike justice.

You don't know how apt that is. There's a sign at big red barn - it says watch out for the tree - gets me looking for the tree all the time - I never learn.

On the up side, if you can hit a tree, you can definitely hit the broad side of a barn... ;) haha

Chappies + wind = burning legs. Still, what a awesome ride.

Now I have FOMO.

You were braver than us. We stayed in bed, by the time we got to gym at 9 then rain was coming down sideways!
