A little Tokai treat yesterday and from HB to Melkbos and back today.

 

I'm not one to punt the gear that I have on my bike but I have a demo unit of one of these saddles on my roadie at the moment and it's been a REVELATION!! I rode 105km yesterday with it and I don't have one single ounce or arse pain this morning.

SPUR MTB School league race in Stellenbosch.

 

THANKS to Paul Roos for a stunning venue.

 

 

This time Maritz was joined by Andreas -

 

 

I do the practice lap with them -

 

 

 

With both inexperienced in bunch starts, we let them start at the back of the pack .....

 

 

 

... just as well .... nice tumble as the group went over the line ..... Maritz and Andreas could pass this on the left and get on with the race.

 

Most interesting watching the group of 7 and 8 year olds ....  3 or 4 racing SNAKES !!     Then a the bulk of "normal kids" with okay bike skills .... followed by those fresh off the training wheels .... but one and all having a blast of a time !!  

 

This was a flat route for the little ones, with hardly a 10m climb.  

 

 

And a nice "burm" to wrap it all up at the end -

Morning commute to Munich ...

To a small island close to Auckland NZ called Waiheke.

 We started from the Ferry station and headed through the small town down the main road.

After a good many hills and exquisite scenery

We stopped for a quick snack in this small bay

We were soon on our way again

heading for our lunch stop in this bay

The second half of our ride consisted of climbs, climbs and more climbs

Before ending off a great ride with one (or maybe more) of these

And jumping on the ferry and back home for more beer and pizza.

Total distance covered for the 4 hrs of riding was 62 km with 1200m of vertical ascent. And i can't remember ONE flat road. It was either up or down.

But what an experience and definitely the highlight of my trip.

Went riding for a week in Namaqualand (Nababeep, Springbok and Kamieskroon) two weeks ago with a friend.
