My bike took me here where I raced to the top to get a photo of my two riding buddies coming up the hill.

Your timing and composition is perfect - with them both sides of the SLOW sign. Make sure you rub it in a bit! ;)

And we have a winner.......colour, low tyre profiles, speed machines......

......saddle and car profile almost similar......

Ryan, how did the X tackle that bit in your 3rd pic? Rocky and sandy, that bit is even tough on the mtb.

Like I said - 'tough' day in Africa  ;) .

Was a bit of an afkak up there. Had to let the bike bounce it's way through. I stopped just before where I took this photo, having come up a stretch of similar rocks - at this point there was a wash away on the left and this big rock on the right, I bailed. Took the photo. Walked a bit further and got back on at a sandy patch just in front on the left. Not ideal conditions for the wheels (I didn't let down the tyre pressure - was worried about dinging the rims and had another 40 odd kms to do which I didn't want squishy tyres for). The sand isn't too much of an issue - just need to expect that it will cut in deeper than a mtb but it gets through quickly.

The unending railway gravel on the section before and after the tunnel was tough going.

They are good law abiding citizens .

Took a late afternoon ride over polka and krommerhee. Bloody hell the wind was strong. Downhill on bottelary felt like uphill -my legs were burning and I could get past 25km/h. Uphill past Palms ( which is normally a nice little knob perfect for an interval) felt like riding up Vissershok on a fixie.

Loved every moment though! Brilliant ride.
