Looking forward to my 2 weeks there at the end of this year. Real holiday place that.

Have to make trips to Bredasdorp to do any decent riding.

Road bike presumably? I don't trust that road. Too narrow to ride on the tar. Mtb is easy as you can pedal next to the road. I head out to Elim on the gravel roads. Peace and quiet and very beautiful.

Chasing the sun in Magalies on a Monday afternoon ride....You can really feel the air temp drop as you head into town!

The old Blaaubank mine is in the distance to the left, sadly local rumour has it they will be starting with open cast operations soon....more trucks in Magalies we dont need (apparently the ore will be transported to Randfontein)

No I meant take the MTB to Bredasdorp - apparently there are some trails out there - would never ride that road on a road bike.

Have done that Elim ride - very lekker. About 90km return from Struisbaai if I remember correctly.

Bredasdorp and Elim has some very nice trails - quite a bit of single track.  Best to speak to Naas Vermaak, he has a bike shop on the Bredasdorp main road, or visit the Southern Foundation website.  Even remnants of a bmx track (might have been restored?)

Yes Naas has already given me his shop's address. I will be paying him a visit. There's also some riding in the Agulhus National Park, but wasn't very well (more like not at all) marked the last time I rode there.

Ja, nice part of the world. We have a little place in Franskraal, so I always do the trappie via Baardskeerdersbos to Elim.

'Interesting' place that, with some 'interesting' inhabitants...

Hehe. Indeed. The place almost feels like it's stuck in the seventies (hmm.... maybe not such a bad thing... :whistling: ). Sadly they're starting to develop the area, so it's losing a bit of its weirdness/flair.

Piggy backed on one of the PEMBI beginner outrides today - dirt roads around Rosemary hill in Pretoria.

First 25km was straight into a blistering cold wind but we all thought at least it will be at our back on the way home, except it dropped entirely and turned into a beautiful highveld winter day.

At the half way pit stop there was an Austrian guy and he was so amazed with all the cyclists hanging around, him and his buddy took a selfie with the riders in the background, then he came and asked me if he could take a pic with the group - such a pity I didn't think to take one on my phone, only on his :(
