Had an eventful ride after work yesterday. Along my normal route I heard something funny in a bush next to me, turned out to be a baboon, and I got to chase a few further down the road. Saw a huge kudu bull, then got to this tree, which was one of my favourites along my route. I always expected to see a leopard in one of its branches.

This obviously got me thinking about the power of elephants, and what they could do to you. Just the previous weekend we got chased in our bakkie by a pissed off bull. Whilst I was thinking about this I started climbing the steepest hill along my route, and then I heard something next to me... Bobs your uncle, there's a freaking elephant about 10m from me. And because I've just started climbing a steep hill I was going nowhere slowly! With that shot of adrenaline I managed to ride half the hill in my middle front gear (I've never had the legs to do it in anything other than granny). Lucky for me the elephant also got a moerse fright, he obviously didn't hear me coming and went running in the opposite direction! I live to ride another day...

This is the kind of post I love to show my European friends  .....like we do it every other day here in Africa. ;)

BRZ... It's cold outside! Really looking in getting a long sleeve jersey for these morning rides (especially due to the fact that winter is near). Traffic was super hectic this morning so I rode a detour to Majik. Only saw one fellow MTB. See pics below. Other than that it was an amazing ride and the bike is lekker dirty after today.

Hoping to get good training in for my first race on the 29th of April. Luckily it is school vacation so I will try to get as much ride in as possible. Will hit the trails again on Sunday.
