A few of us did a 400km MTB ride on Friday night through to Saturday afternoon. It was "rather interesting" and was a massive challenge. Worst of all were the corrugated and sandy sections. The wind was also hectic.

Started in Pretoria > Bronkies > Loskop > Groblersdal > Rust De Winter > Bela Bela...

took us 16hrs at 25kmph moving average. Just under 19 hours total.

Everything is rather eina at the moment ;-) and no I couldn't do the last 1.46kms to make it a round 400km ;-)

After a dismal "training" year, and me basically only cycling immediately (like a week) before events and during events, I finally took the bike out with the missus this weekend.

Saturday morning spent working, and we opted for a later afternoon ride.

We drove to Avianto, parked and took the bikes out cradle way to Maggies farm.

In the meantime, a bit of cloud came up from the south...and a few drops fell as we sat enjoying our beverages and snacks

We eventaully left after a little while as the rain let up a bit, and it was getting late, I was worried about visibility going back.

We somehow managed to no get drenched, as there war a clear path ( I felt a bit moses-ish) as we rode the MTB track next to beyers to get back to the car as soon as possible.

Lighting was klapping to the left and right of us, it was quite ominous.

Safely back at Avianto, after sucking the missus' wheel all the way back unashamedly, just as the sun broke through the clouds, as the storm moved north eastwards..

Even Managed to get some lightning in this shot, thanks to "live fotos" feature from apple.

Sunday saw us returning to Avianto. Man I missed this place. The new routes, and reverse of traditional routes was refreshing, and for my lack of fitness very challenging. It's loose, rough and technical. just the way I like it.

We got going late (because lazy) so it was hot. We found some respite from the heat in the shade next to the river. After this little stop, the section next to the river is superb.

and took a little detour on the runners track (no runners was harmed or upset during the making of this ride report) on the clubhouse's side.

Cooled off in the pool before chowing a Pizza and having some beers.

Think I will be spending a lot of time here in December. Felt like a mini holiday.
