First timer. We staying in green point accomodation. Can you walk, ride, all the way to the start, or is it fine driving there, finding parking, somewhere around the start area?

Ride to the start, lots of others will also. Then when you finish you are at your accomodation, no need to ride into town to fetch your car.

LOTS of cyclists staying walking distance from the DHL stadion.  All of them cycle to the start.

Remake of & batch trying to go past newlands this morning

Very twitchy in the big bunch this morning

Three bad crashes in & hey! Just after UCT, at the start of Chappies (!) and just before Sun Valley.

Somehow avoided all and stayed upright (in spite of one of the guys who crashed on the M3 knocking my right hood out of alignment whilst doing a 360 onto the tarmac 🫣).

Stoked with a sub 3 in my 10th CTCT. 👌

& batch felt stressful today. A few big crashes and then finally my luck ran out at the start of little chapies when 2 riders went down infront of me and i had nowhere to go. Luckily only wheel and stem needed to be realigned but the group was gone and i was all alone

I think i looked like a man possessed on my black trek up chapmans and suikerbossie to try catch back up. Burnt every match i had but i never saw them again😵 came across in 2:48 dissapointing end for me

Did not see any of the crashes in & but some dodgy riding all round. Ou Toppie came from behind pushing/shouldering me and others out the way to get to the front as you get out the trees after the Smits downhill. Some other guy came sprinting down the right at one point on Smits downhill almost going off the road. Also close call with the ambulance on Chappies downhill through the gate too.

Good weather day though and lots of PR times all round.

Shelled out the back of 1c on Smits, at which point I knew the sub 3 was out of reach. If ever there was a day for it, it was today but...

3.06, a PR by 2 minutes. If you'd told me I'd be disappointed with that time 10 years ago when I did my first one I would have laughed in your face and called you deluded.

Well done. Today was my 9th and I have the same goal to hit that sub 3 number on my 10th.

Was a crap day on the bike for me.
started 1D, for the first time in a long time I was VERY nervous before the race. Woke up at 3am with the shakes.

I knew the moment we climbed up onto the highway that this was going to be a tough day, the legs did not want to cooperate.
At the top of the climb before heading down to hospital bend the right calve started cramping already.

I gave it everything I had to stick to the group, eventually through fishhoek I was spat out the back.

Solo’d to just before Simon’s town when another group caught me. It was actually weird, from fish hoek to Simon’s town I could see my group just up ahead edging away, but not a single other rider around until the next group caught me.

from Simon’s town I spent the rest of the race clinging for as long as possible to each group that came past. Every time we hit a rise in the road my HR would climb, my legs would moan and I’d get spat out.

left thigh started cramping heading towards misty cliffs, by the time we got out the other side of soetwater both legs were cramping.

stopped at the top of chappies, grabbed a pic, then was forced to stop on little suikerbossie with both legs in full on cramps. Rubbed them and stretched them the. Nursed my way up suikers watching everyone stream past.
luckily the wind was pushing me home from there, managed to limp over the finish line in 3h35.
21st CTCT done.
wish my body would have cooperated, it’s was great conditions to pb.
