I always wonder about us paying entry fees so far in advance. The organisers must get some proper return by interest on bank balances in the run-up to an event. Now that this one has ended up in court, what will happen to the events? I still see active advertisements trying to pursuade us to enter now for an event only taking place in 2026. These and that pro’s has already entered and bla bla bs. By the looks of things, those entry fees are gone!

Yeah, saw that. Luckily I only entered the Boland 100miler at one of those once in a lifetime never to me repeated sales, so the monetary risk to me isnt that big.

But is would be sad for road cycling if this affects their cycling events...the events themselves are lekker.

They spam the cycling newsletter with adverts for these concerts which is annoying. I'm in for the 100 miler and the tour due cap.

Agreed it would not be a good thing if these events are a casualty.

Wait… how did we go from the Coleske brothers flopping music festivals to the Tour du Cap being cancelled?

Cant take screenshots of the Netwerk24 article, but Coleske is just commenting, it's not their festival(s) in trouble.

The article is about the Steve Hofmeyer Ikoon show thats postponed and DeVilliers National Cycling's trouble related to that.Β

It appears that de Villiers National Cycling (dVNC) organised a music festival which has bombed. A supplier who claims to be owed upwards or R2m has successfully brought an application to have dVNC provisionally liquidated.

It was never clear to me how events for the artist in question were associated with devilliers cycling. it doesn't look good for my domestique role for @peetwindhoekfor the tour due cap 2026

Coleske was not involved. He was only quoted as saying the afr music concert scene is overtraded and that this liquidation is an example of what happens when "cowboys" enter the fray.

Well that'll be a pity, I've spent the last weeks trying to convince my DC Team to finally enter the Tour du Cap and now it might not happen at all 😩

Fortunately no money changed hands πŸ˜„

It will be a great pity to lose this stage race - if DC teams were to enter it would make all categories much more interesting too.Β

I'm a bit scared to go down this rabbithole, but this is all to do with Steve Hofmeyr?

How is that knobjockey not grifting his white ass off into millions currently? He is basically an Afrikaans Donald Trump. As the posterboy for white victimhood, how did he miss this massive opportunity?

seems my news24 account doesn't get me netwerk24 access, but i did find this quickly

image.png.d063a3e9148f894ad4b08d2eab79581c.pngΒ

so my takeaway here

De villiers has a music promotions business/sidehustle. And with a postponed concert from march he is now trying a V2.0?

You can still buy tickets here -Β https://www.toptickets.co.za/event-details/steve-hofmeyr-ikoon-konsert-kaap-dhl-stadion

(they have a gmail address for the concert)

Β

The cycling thing might be a totally separate vehicle, so this could go belly up and Tour du Cap et al are fine (which is even more DJT immoral behaviour)
