I believe this to be an old friend of mine, Francois Esterhuizen, owner of Manic Cycles😪

Popped in at Manic Cycles regularly.

They were always actively involved with the many MTB races on the farms pre-2020.

I had hoped it wasn’t true, mistaken identity or someone else with the same name, but no . Another victim to a cowardly driver who fled the scene rushed to a car wash to have the evidence removed. Alas, there are good people in the world and the vigilant car washer spotted tell tale signs of a fresh accident and blood and alerted the cops. Nit sure if the driver has been arrested yet but the car is impounded by Villiersdorp SAPS.

Oh no, condolences to family and friends.

He very generously made a plan for me "overnight" at a big race when no1 could/would assist.

Very tragic. We did our annual Christmas ride Thursday morning and Francois gave us some training tips and routes for the attakwas. He made a big impact to the sport and the community and will be missed. RIP Francois

I remember many many moons ago when Gavin Rossouw and myself needed a place to stay for a race close to Worcester, Francois also opened his home to us. We slept like students on couches, and had a great race in the morning. I'm going to miss him..

We have lost a true gentleman of this sport! He loved doing it, talking about it and helping everyone he could. I will miss that man, the scene is poorer for him not being there.
