All the other diets are just fluff.....

When you are feeling fit and good, set your own challenge, call it the Ouzo300/400/500/1000 or whatever you want, and go for it. No need to wait for the next marketing campaignย
It is what you see it as .... personally I see it as a challenge to keep motivated during that specific period else is to easy to just chill out because everyone else is. I have accomplished it many years, last year 2022 I couldn't and 2023 I only managed 370. I had as much fun doing that than all the other times I finished it ๐
And I know I'm not the only one that sees it like that

Does virtual rides EVER count?
Only if there's a 'covid' lock down!

ill do a couple of rides and remove and check for fractures. ive got some PETG on order, been difficult to source black filament for some reason.
Best I get on it then, I don't have much black PETG left ๐ค
Thanks for the heads up on that

before buying 3rd party, i thought id try a home job hack ... might need to tether the varia to my bike somehow in case the PLA breaks.ย ๐คช
i printed with 100% infill and it feels mega solid .... lets seeย ๐ค

Very nice, just from experience always tether! More important since its 'out of sight' while riding
Just out and about and I was asked recently, so what do you think about when you're spending all that time riding on your own?
After some thought I can say that I've stopped trying to solve the world's problems, those days are long gone they can solve their own! What I generally do is calculate how far at what average speed in the time I have available and what route to take ....
This morning though I recalled being told by my now ex son in law, whom I still have an excellent relationship with and who happens to have been an excellent road and track cyclist
'Very few people can really push a 53x11 and you're probably not one of them' .... 'yes when you're going downhill you might roll out that gear but that probably has more to do with gravity than your legs'
At the time I was pretty peeved but over the years I have learnt that he was right ๐ซฃ
Now some of you may disagree but give it time .....
Your thoughts while you ride, if you ride alone that is ๐
Decided what the heck I'll take a ride toย Bass Lake and back for something different this morning .... I mean it's about 25k's so 50 in total.
Had to be back by 9:30 .... turns out its over 30, had to seriously haul the mail to get back on time. But one must get the picture so whatever it takes right?
It was blimmin lekker to test the legs for the first time in a long time and they were up to the challenge ๐

I remember a simpler time .... Ja ja ja there were ox wagons ๐ .... If you wanted heart rate you used Polar and if you wanted navigation you used Garmin. If you wanted both well you had to use both!
These kinds of decisions are a lot more difficult now like many others.
In my day you drove what your Dad drove, if he was a Ford man well then so were you. Easy peasy ๐

Riding alone is risky for YOU but in the event of a fall you are often relying on strangers for help. Strangers who didn't sign up to spend their day assisting people who don't ride in groups because it doesn't suit them, but then rely on a group to get out in tact.
It's a tricky one because although most solo's acknowledge the risk is theirs, if people ride past them and say 'not my problem' while they bleed to death in the bushes there will be a level of un met expectancy of help
I do get his point and I know I'm going to get flack for this but I would consider it normal decency to help someone out whatever the circumstance but hey that's probably just me
Since my life (and its been a fair long time) it's the first time I've ever heard that kind of sentiment .... maybe the riders of all kinds are just a different breed here in the souf
On the 2 occasions that I've had serious falls in the last year stranger's (in one case it was trail runners) that came along called the contact on my ICE bracelet and in one instance the ambulance
I know the risks and as mentioned I have decided for myself that it is acceptable, whatever will be will be. At the same time I do whatever I can to be safe and get home to my family

Conversely, who else, when being overtaken by someone, has to engage in an internal monologue about how you're there for a zone 2 ride and nothing more and maybe he's only riding 30km while you're doing 130 ....?
Anyone who passes me definitely hasn't been as far as I have even if it's in the first 5k's of my ride and the audacity to pass me ..... pass someone what's that?
To a certain extent some sentiments displayed here is why I'm not a group rider ๐
Got sorted ๐
