  1. My buddy got taken out this morning around 6:30am in Kingfisher Rd in Southfield by 4 guys in a blue Citi Golf. They rammed him from the side as he turned left into Kingfisher Rd off Gull Rd and he ended up on the bonnet and then on the floor. They then drove away, turned around further down and came back, by this time his fiancé who was riding with him had arrived. The 2 guys in the backseat then got out and asked "apologized", asked him if the bike is broken, He said yes, They then got back in the car and drove away. He says he had a sneaky feeling because the car was behind him for a while going down Gull Rd, as he turned into Kingfisher they basically squeezed into him.

Not sure if he managed to get plate numbers etc, But just a heads up

Just spoke to him on the phone, The house on the corner where it happened infront of have cameras, So he is going later after work to see if they can see anything.

With 4 guys being in a Citi golf and my mate riding a 60cm frame, We doubt they were after his bike but perhaps trying to knock him over that he gets injured and while laying down they would rob him as has happened before to a guy in Stellies.

  2. I spectated the event... And with confidence, I can say, Matt Beers is NOT human!!! We were standing at the lookout point before the top, on the 1st lap Matt had about a 30sec lead over @Sid the Sloth who was riding his 1X 56t big blade(RIP Knees), on the 2nd lap, the gap was all of a sudden 4min30 and he managed to finish with a 7min gap on the 3rd and final lap and beat Jaco Venter who came in 2nd (ex SA Champ and WT rider) and @Sid the Sloth coming in 3rd...

We were laughing as spectators as Matt came 1st in Cat 1, and finished in what would've been 7th in Cat 3 as he caught so many riders(Cat 3 started 20mins after Cat 1 and the full loop is just under 30kms).

BUT what made it even more insane, was chatting to him at the end, he wasn't happy with the 52/36 gear setup on his Aethos and he said he was spinning out quite often as he didn't have big enough gears, but the cherry on the top was he still had 3 hrs to do on his programme, he finished the day with 205kms @ 33.7km/h average with 3300+m elevation gain.

That dude is just wired differently....

One can gooi the power, however, comfort and durability while gooi-ing those watts is key.

The pressure mapping I’ve also had done with @science2sport has helped tons with my early 2022 updated fit.

So many amateur cyclists avoid this important yet crucial investment in their comfort and durability.

Here’s another cool video by the quirky @tristantakevideo

I enjoyed this video, Also the 1 where he joins the Pro Conti team for a whole week Pre-season. The behind the scenes footage is always cool to watch.

I contacted their group on facebook, apparently even though the unit has bluetooth and ant+ connectivity it only uses ant+ to connect to sensors. The bluetooth part is used to connect the head unit to you phone or PC for syncing data

    This.

I had the exact issue where my Lezyne Flow HRM wouldn't sync to my Garmin Edge 1000. Did the digging and found out the Edge 1000 Unuit is the same as the XOSS, The bluetooth is only used for syncing data to 3rd party apps and your PC etc, it requires ANT+ for all sensors, and the Lezyne Flow HRM didn't have ANT+, Only Bluetooth.

In the 50 years before the year 2000 the biggest advance in livestock breeding was Artificial Insemination (AI), but the last 20 years it has dramatically improved with the use of Genomics.

You don't have to think about breeding choices anymore and it is quite possible to predict at a very early age how the offspring of certain cows and bulls will perform

Those ones in Pretoria are sukkeling though a bietjie ne...

Speaking of age doping, I lost out because of this, while I was at school doing athletics. The coaches would just let anyone run in an age group because they were in the grade of what that age group was but yet they were always two to three years older. You let them know about it but nothing was done, so you would waste your time training just to narrowly be beaten by someone that comes into the trials and lose out on a spot that you worked so hard for.

Yep this EXACT thing happens at schoolboy rugby EVERY year.

  7. Not so much doping, But still cheating nonetheless is the matter of age cheating, Most notably in Football in our country and I've experienced it 1st hand.

In 03/04 I played for the Cape Town Academy, at the time which was the "breakaway" from the FC Fortune club after Quinton Fortune and his agent and club chairman Colin Gie's infamous fallout, So we were essentially the Man United academy is SA if you want to call it that, Very similar to the Ajax CT/Ajax Amsterdam link. Anyway, Because we were a new club to the association, we were put into the Promotion league and not the Super League against the other academy clubs like Ajax CT and Hellenic etc back then, Our 1st few games we were winning 11-0, 17-0, 15-0 etc and even beat Meadows 21-0. Anyway we had this 1 "kid" playing for us we called "Shoes" at the time, He was short (no red flags), but built like a tank (amber flag as we were u17 so 14,15,16yr olds). We were clearly too strong for the league but they refused to move us, we then played in a knock-out game where all leagues are combined and we played vs Tableview who were in the super league above us, Now if there are old ballies who can moan, Tableview possibly take the cake along with Edgemead LOL, Anyway We beat them comfortably, I think it was 7-0. After the game their coach came into our dressing room to ask to speak to Shoes, he took his name on his players card, ID number and asked what school he attended. On the Monday the Tableview coach went to the school "Shoes" attended and asked the Principal if a learner by that name with that ID number attended the school and the Principal said yes. He then called the kid to the office and a small, scrawny little kid came in. The coach showed the kid a pic of Shoes and asked if he knew him to which he replied and said it was his cousin who was about 22/23. When they asked the kid how shoes got hold of his birth certificate as you need it to register, the kid said that his birth certificate was missing for a long time and that shoes had possibly stolen it from their house. Turns out shoes was 23. We immediately had all our points deducted and only just managed to survive relegation at the end of the season even though we were unbeaten.

That's just one of MANY cases I experienced in my career, and it happened in cricket too because if a kid comes to trials and brings a birth certificate, what can you do as birth certificates don't have pics attached!!

  8. 100k for a "top end" bike is a bargain these days. I view a "Top end" road bike as a Full Carbon Race bike, Dura Ace Di2/Sram Red AXS, Very good carbon wheelset, possibly PM included, Carbon bars etc. But realistically, you not getting all that for 100k(and DEFINITELY not with 12spd) and if you want your road bike "top end", You're still going to be spending money after the initial 100k. You could however get a well spec'd bike for that price yes but then again you're sitting with Ultegra di2/Force AXS most likely and a few other possible upgrades to be made. So if you can pick up a top end bike for 100k from a mate as a lucky buy, I do think there are enough, Not many, But enough guys willing to buy because I've seen a few on here last a day or 2 max, yes there are a few which have been around for a month plus, BUT, I have seen a few go very quickly.

Can’t imagine there was anything in Killarney to t-bone to cause the same head on accident?

LOL naah I mean the same kinda damage to the bike, area of the fork snapping etc and the rest of the bike looking fine...

Never seen a fork snap there before, the wheel looks perfect. Wow!

FWIW I almost avoid training rides through Camps Bay and especially Clifton anymore. It’s just to random there during the week.

What's weird is that I've now seen it twice in 3 days. The pic below is a friend of mine who crashed at Killarney on Sunday in the WP winter league...

Guess this is old news now but I'll put it out there anyway. Here's a little edit my daughter put together of my ride this year. Maybe it'll help or inspire others for next year.

PS... racing snakes need not watch, I race in slow mo 😊

    Lekker vid.

Should've probably left out the part where you guys rode the part from the start along Eastern Blvrd and all the way down the M3 which is illegal for cyclists on every other day apart from CTCT day.

  12. Yeah saw the release around their wheels, sticking with their glossy over "raw" finish and CULT bearings with a different spoke pattern from the WTO .. Interested to see what a set is going to cost (Not for purchase obviously) LOL
