  1. A few years back i shot the Cheytac M200 in .408 and 419gr bullet.Took it out to 1400m on a 1X1meter steel plate. You can't ask for more than that for long range shooting but it comes at a cost .

    Rifle $11k

    Scope $3k

    Ammo $15 per round.

"A standard bullet retains its supersonic velocity at ranges beyond 2 000 meters. It is worth noting that at the ranges beyond 700 meters this bullet has more energy than the standard .50 caliber (12.7x99 mm) round, however it generates less recoil. "

    Bliskem.... and bliksem again

  2. I would choose between 6.5 Creedmoor and 308.

6.5 will only get you about 2500 shots of barrel life, where the 308 will easily do double that.

Vihtavuori powder will add another couple of hundred shots over the hot burning S365 stretching the 6.5 to about 3000 shots. Vihtavuori is more expensive than Somchem, but it's easy to find and a more "stable" powder.

The ,308 is less fussy when it comes to loading.

Shooting to 1000m in good conditions we can swing a 400mm gong the whole day with 308 and 6.5

Not really a worry anymore; s365 is pretty much akin to unobtanium  these days...

  3. Does your wife have a Huawei phone? I know that they tend to give issues with the DQ.

But something else you can try to get to the bottom of the issue: Drive her car with your phone and see if it logs the trip. Normally its a single profile with multiple devices so its links via the main members ID number.

If your phone works in her car without any issue then you know its her phone giving problems.

Nah, I suspect the issue is on their software. Reason me saying so is that I have a tracking unit installed which works 100% as I can pull all the stats from CTrack. However, every month like clockwork I get the error message “No tracking unit installed” on Disco’s page, triggering another email exchange with Disco support

  4. From the latest ASA circular:

What a load of ***. All of their "concerns" apply to a normal training run as well. All that the virtual race is the possibility of a "race" result that nobody takes any notice of as a) You don't run at the same time as anyone else b) not the same course c) Not actually racing anyone

  5. No offens and what I have to say is only feedback, I feel that it's annoying that you want to make more money off of people with a premium. It's a community the people created by joining, yes sure you made the website but so can a 18yr old develop a website like this????‍♂️

Yes, how dare the creators of the platform offer an optional subscription service that doesn’t impact existing non-paying users in any way. I’m also waiting for the 18 year and his website (which requires almost no time and effort to develop and maintain) to come along, so that he can also charge me whatever he likes

  6. So.... decided to move my insurance from Discovery to Sanlam. Premium is down R1700 pm which is nice, however the biggest reason is the schlep of having to police Discovery every month. I have had issues for the last 3 years where my Vitality dashboard stays on "Blue" status. Numerous queries logged, no resolution. The last straw was their response to this "Note, the issue is NOT with the tracking unit. The unit has been inspected on 3 separate occasions and no fault was found. In addition, my weekly Vitality Drive goals reflect every trip and incident. Lastly, all my trips reflect accurately on DQ Track. Please do not suggest  to me that a technician needs to come out and have a look at the tracking unit"

    Response:

"Kindly be advised that our systems team will require the latest errors as an image to assist with a resolution, alternatively we can book a technician to take a look at the tracking unit"

It's like they're not even reading the problem description

  7. He holds the fastest Ironman 70.3 with a 1:07 run leg (after a 1:52, 90km bike)

    https://www.slowtwitch.com/News/Blummenfelt_Lawrence_win_Bahrain_70.3_7524.html

even more impressive when you see this:

A highly touted The Legends Relay Team consisting of endurance swimmer Chloe McCardel, Tour de France veteran Mark Cavendish and multiple Olympic champion runner Mo Farah was handily beaten by solo Pro Men’s winner Kristian Blummenfelt. The Legends finished in 3:31:49 (swim 25:50 – Bike 1:54:46 – Run 1:07:10) and Blummenfelt finished in 3:25:21 – (Swim 22:26 – Bike 1:52:03 – Run 1:07:00)

  8. If getting fat, losing your girlfriend, not earning enough because you don’t work hard enough is not enough motivation to change your ways, I’m not sure someone shouting at you at 4:30 in the morning to get out of bed will be any different. At some stage you’ll have to realise you have to push yourself if you want to achieve anything. If you don’t care about yourself enough to make it happen, why would anyone else?

  9. This is going to be a slightly longer post as I need to give background and context to the idea. The story begins about two weeks ago, I received a message from my girlfriend (who at the time was admitted to Poortview psychiatric hospital) that our 4 year relationship was no longer working for her and that she thought we were no longer compatible.

Que 2 weeks of roller coaster emotions and some deep introspection and I realize that much of this situation is because of my actions and speaks volumes of who I had become (or rather not become) in the confines of a comfortable relationship. To name but a few; I had started drinking too much, packing on weight, had a lackluster attitude to work performance (I earn commission only so this directly showed in my ability to contribute to household upkeep), I had developed a general attitude of complacency in life.

Fast forward to today, here I am thinking, there are so many lost souls out there who can do with some guidance and discipline, why not form a commune/cult of discipline of sorts, rent out a 3 bedroom house each guy that buys into the idea forks in 6k a month, stack rooms with 2 single beds each, live together with the following goals: everyone is up at 4:30am, daily compulsory training sessions, meal prep is done together (cooking only healthy meals), compulsory self improvement lectures every night (masterclass tutorials etc.) the idea would be that it would be a 6 months transformation program of sorts, with each individual pushing there peers to higher levels.

If the idea resonates with your, or might work for someone you know give me a shout (pm or whatever)

PS. my thinking that got me here was a process of critically evaluating metal health issues, and seeing dozens of great people ruined by reaching for easy out options (basically medicating live problems away)

Sounds like you might want to join the army

  10. I don't understand why it took them so long to make a decision.

No refunds and no carry over to 2021.

This is upsetting for a lot of runners as they can barely afford the entry fee. Surely the entrants of 2020 can get some sort off discount for 2021?

Will you be wearing this year's t-shirt if they post it to you?

Can I get my back to back medal?  I have completed every kilometre of the race for both the 2019 and 2020 editions :whistling:

  11. So my “fake” POC mystery is finally solved! I’ve been informed by POC International HQ via DB Multisport SA that the sunglasses are genuine!

    To quote their reply email...

“Your Aspire's are the limited 10-year-edition Aspire (2016).”

So if anyone wants to buy these do let me know!

Awesome, glad you are sorted. (Shows how much I know :P ) Bit crap from the local agents to not engage with you first before flagging it as fakes

  12. I spent a bit of time cleaning up and replacing the riempies of our dining room chairs. Real old world stuff and so nice to restore something in solid wood that was so well made. But of course, this being lock-down, I'm short of riempies and cannot finish the job. It'll just have to wait a bit more then, like my wife pointed out, it's already waited a few years, so why get stressed if you can't finish the last two chairs right now! Yes, she was being sarcastic, not supportive!

Not sure which I like more... the chair or the hammer
