iteachcoffee Posted June 30, 2016 Share Fortunately I have spare machines.... and a lever I have not mastered yet.... so I have not been stressing about it - kind of helps to have a 2grp at work too... Use that lever! I promise you a better cup than the GS3 if you learn the thing and the temperature is in range!
iteachcoffee Posted June 30, 2016 Share If its for the office then get them to get an auto that grinds and brews, its much cheaper in the long run and tons better than a nespresso. We have one of the higher end nespressos in the office with the milk frother etc but it hardly gets used due to the price of pods and not that great coffee it produces.I concur. Better tasting, easier, cheaper, and better for the environment, oh and more choice... Long Wheel Base, Rocket-Boy and nonky

HappyMartin Posted June 30, 2016 Share BIG voltage spike - brain fried for sure, solonoids and other things probably too... Jhb metro hooked up a generator and connected it wrong to our local distribution point and fried half the appliances in the neighbourhood - lets just say the GS is bottom of the list of things to be fixed/replaced stillExact same thing happened to a mate a few years back. Krell power amp fried. 200K repair bill was just one of there items.

Krell power amp fried. 200K repair bill was just one of there items. My 10day old receiver was also a victim.... Yamaha did come to the party though - very kindly, and mostly because it lasted a couple of days after the event - fortunatly not a Krell, and fortunately most of my speakers survived - sub died... SpruitCommuter Posted July 4, 2016 Share Does anyone know of a South African coffee/espresso forum? I frequently read threads and articles on http://www.home-barista.com/, http://coffeegeek.com/ and http://www.gaggiausersgroup.com/ mostly to get ideas about modding, repairing and maintaining my espresso machines. These resources are very useful, but not really when it comes to advice on sourcing spares etc locally and advertising and looking for second hand machines. Are there any local equivalents - this thread is certainly the most active SA coffee discussion I've come across, but that probably doesn't mean much. Refillable ones are a real fiddle but do work. These days I use an aeropress at work, takes a few minutes and is very easy to clean.I just grind the beans at home in the morning and bring the amount I need with. the nerd Posted July 4, 2016 Share Its always funny how aeropress somehow is a champion somewhere. What a great device. I don't use mine so often anymore since working from home but I still love it.
HappyMartin Posted July 4, 2016 Share I do quite a lot of location work. I take an Aeropress with a Porlex filter with me. My girlfriend is a geologist and also travels with an Aeropress. the nerd
HappyMartin Posted July 4, 2016 Share A big thank you to V12 for the almost two hour coffee break on Friday to help me with my coffee making skills. It was both pleasant and helpful. Things going well with the new machine at the moment. SimpleDom, Frosty, the nerd and 1 other
