Yes, its a bell and much needed on my route... Its also the best looking bell Ive ever seen made for a bike. Here's the vid.

Got it at sportsmans warehouse

Thanks, think I'll get 1, guess I won't use it as much as u, but for the few occasions it would be more polite than whistling or shouting.

Hate to be that guy, but those bells don't work very well on anything but tar. As soon as you hit any sort of bump it starts making noise and ringing. The spring is a little soft...

Hopefully you have a better experience than me with it!

You are not alone, although mine seems to not want to work unless I pull it very far back so it really whacks the "ringer" ring.......

The ergonomics makes it almost impossible to use on a trail.

Aren't threse things like `a gazillion bucks for A ...BELL

I've seen look-a-likes in LBS for about R90. Sure they aren't the original ones but it you strap it to your bars, you flick the switch and the 'bing'... just like the one that cost a fair bit more. It's a bell. It rings.

Sportsmanswarehouse.co.za has them for like 50 bucks, but the oi just looks nice.

Best Cheap Bell around!

If you want a bell for commuting, you want a bell that is loud and reliable. This one is loudish, but has proven to be reliable and still works in the wet too.

I bought two of these from Sportsmans. One on my road bike, one on my Mtb (was R55.00 a bell)

Works a treat, no unnecessary "ringing" on the trails, no matter how bumpy it is.
