TSS is based on Power, hrTSS is based on Heart Rate, rTSS is based on running pace (etc. Training Peaks has a number of different TSS measures). TSS should be the most accurate and consistent but does require yout FTP setting to be correct.

 

 

That usually happens when your Heart Rate and/or Power zones are not set correctly. If you have them set up correctly the numbers should be pretty similar (although hrTSS will be a bit more variable because HR at a specific power can drift or be higher or lower depending on how fresh or fatigued you are).

My FTP was wrong on TP, the two figures arw much closer now.

AH!! Ok. My ftp on TP was waaaaay higher than it should be. Makes sense now. The higher your ftp is the harder you can work therefore the less TSS for a given effort. Sorry this stuff is all new to me.

Started commuting and my TSS is increasing. Rode in the last four days and I'm sitting on 688 for the week thus far..Taking a break tomorrow and maybe Saturday as well.

 

Sounds like a decent commute.

My guess: 1h20 one way?

A quick question on TSS

I see TP has and option to show hrTSS and TSS

I assume the hrTSS is calculated via the hear rate numbers, where does the TSS figure come from? Power?

Yes. Theoretically the numbers should be similar.

 

Your HR tss is a based on your HR zones and your tss is based on your FTP.

Lost a bit of motivation after the virtual 36One in the 876 TSS week, and not really knowing what races we are training towards at the moment. Trying to keep my mind fooled on training for Trans Baviaans although I'm pretty certain it's not happening in August.

I increased my hours big time during level 5.

Since 1 May I have eased back a bit. Need to pick it up again and maintain for the next few months.

I've settled on no big events for the rest of the year, so working on building some strength.

 

hopefully this will pay dividends if we have a local tri season

you said it, being outside is so much fun at the moment.

 

tron bike was a big motivator, but any zwift over 90 mins kills any motivation.
