Lance Interview

Also watched the Documentary on DSTV.

As much as he was my sporting hero, have a very different opinion after watching the two episodes. That said, as he mentioned, it was a case of Dope or get nowhere. I somehow think that not much has changed over the years. Doctors and teams have just got a whole lot smarter.

Amazed to see how Floyd has let himself go. Think he had health issues, but is looking very chubby for an ex pro.

So has anyone watched the ESPN 30for30 documentary "Lance".

Watched it on DSTV catchup (not mych cycling related material on the dish lately). Quite an interesting take on Lance rider, Lance the Brand, Lance the family man and the public view on Lance the Cancer Survivor.

Was quite interesting to see him so moved by the  space Ullrich finds himself in today. Clearly there is bitterness in the way Pantani, Ullrich, himself and others were thrown under the bus for what was essentially a systemic problem that is likely still with us today. I wonder if the 2020 TdF is going to be faster than 2019  as 2019 was faster than 2018....

Yip, watched both episodes. I had no clue about his feeling towards Ulrich, I was taken aback.

Interesting that he slammed Hincapie, yet they are on his podcast now..

I didn't buy it. I think he's a narcissist and master manipulator who surrounds himself with people who don't challenge him. As soon as somebody does, they move very quickly into his vengeance crosshairs. That's not to say he isn't a badass and gifted athlete.

On the other hand, the more I listen to Floyd Landis, the more I like him. He made a few pretty bad decisions and at the time when he decided to tell-all, it really just seemed like it was coming from a bitter liar/cheat. But from that moment onward it seems like he decided to tell things exactly as they are. He's intelligent, insightful and has the guts to give his opinions about things pretty bluntly. A lot of other guys still seem to be picking their words carefully, like they are still scared of LA.

Floyd rocks....he had the balls to take Lance down.

Floyd didn't do himself any favours with his defence that that ridiculous book that he put so much effort (and other people's money) into.

I am glad he gave that all up and admitted to being a douche and telling the truth. Much more respect

And he is probably a much happier person now.

Him and Zabriskie are real clowns

Lance and Jan might have been big rivals but I think they always had a lot of respect for each other.

I think the fact that Ulrich once waited for Lance after he had a mishap during a stage of one of the Tours they competed against each other also played a role. If my memory serves me right Lance once waited for Jan too.

I was not surprised with Lance's viewpoint of riders within his own team who had illusions of becoming leaders or co leaders ...... " They know where the door is"...   :)

Imagine Froome or Bernal or Thomas ever say something like that.

Have seen bits and pieces of the doccie and in general it's pretty much reinforced the view I had of LA, ie. he is very selfish, at times dismissive of taking responsibility for his own actions, but also incredibly intelligent and extremely driven to be a success at what he does.

Regarding Hincapie: I get the feeling some of the hate he gets from LA has more to do with the punishment both received from USADA & the UCI, as well as their relationship/friendship being highly competitive. To the point where it could be seen as toxic. You're also left wondering if it's also not a case of keeping your enemy close? LA & GH have, imho, a very very complicated relationship/friendship.

Well apparently pot gummies are a thing in America. So perhaps something for Floyd to look into! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Iv'e watched a few of he's interviews and documentary films and for some strange reason, for all he's cheats and arrogant behavior, I still like the guy...  Have to admire the talent he has/had and the resilience to stay in the public eye. It would have been VERY easy to slip away, pay he's $ 5 Million fine and hope few remember...But he is still doing Podcasts and in the media telling he's story.

I must be getting soft!

LA and George are grown men.  By now if they didn't like each other after hanging out for 30 years, they wouldn't

TV is edited for drama, when I watch their podcasts I see genuine rivalry but I see genuine love.  George sees through LA bush*t and laughs at it.

George seems a likeable guy quite capable of choosing who he wants to hang out with

Is Lance a d!ck, no doubt but I like him and have no argument with anyone who doesn't.  Every strong, long lasting group of friends usually has a knobhead in their midst but he's often the one to pull through in the bad times.  I know this, I'm our groups token Dhead
