Hi guys, I see so many people moaning about MTB routes. What will make you not do a MTB race. What makes a challenge not a challenge anymore.

To many hills, sand, thorns ..........

Early bottlenecks. Too many 3down arrows. Bad route markings. Picking up numbers during work hours.

Ditto !Plus bad route prep like markings and leaving wires ext in the route .To avoid bottlenecks your seeding has to be good .For good seeding you need to race hard for at least 6 months in different events .I try and do the events that suit me so I can maintain my B seeding .It really sucks when you get stuck behind slower riders and there is nothing you can do ,not even an Evans pass. For a day event I will drive maximum 1 hour Edited by Blitzer

Any race where slow riders block downhill singletrack.

That's why I rather go for weekends away trail riding with friends. If it has to be a race then it will be an Enduro or DH type event. Chances of catching one or more riders is slim.

Why race a tail that you can ride any other time is the year without the congestion...Most rides are on established and accessible trails. Those with unique or special routes that one would not have access to usually have more appeal to me.

Everybody is complaining about bottlenecks. What causes bottlenecks? Slow riders out of position, so my biggest complaint is seeding. Every single race I ride seeding is the biggest issue. The takkie brigade always push to the front and are pushing the bike by the 2nd corner. Race organisers need to look at this issue.
