This stuff must make you fast or strong or something special. The side effects according to Wikipedia don't sound like fun:

Common (>1% incidence) adverse effects include:

  • Xerostomia (dry mouth)
  • Restlessness
  • Nervousness
  • Euphoria
  • Agitation
  • Arrhythmia
  • Tachycardia
  • Hypertension
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Headache
  • Rash
  • Urinary frequency
  • Facial oedema
  • Unpleasant taste
  • Urticaria
  • Impotence
  • Changes in libido

Rare (<1% incidence) adverse effects include:

  • Valvular heart disease (in combination with dexfenfluramine and fenfluramine; causal relationship unclear)

  • Primary pulmonary hypertension
  • Increased seizure activity in people with epilepsy
  • Psychosis
  • Withdrawal symptoms on stopping
  • Dysphoria
  • Ischaemic events

All good for weight loss.

Common (>1% incidence) adverse effects include:

  • Xerostomia (dry mouth) - makes you thirsty and you have another tablet with water, lose more weight.
  • Restlessness - toss and turn and keep burning calories.
  • Nervousness - get so nervous you run for the hills, more calories burnt .
  • Euphoria - Makes you jump around with excitement, calories consumed again.
  • Agitation - Do I need to explain how good it is for burning calories ?
  • Arrhythmia - One small risk, massive weight loss, it's a gamble.
  • Tachycardia - Will at least get you out the blocks quick.
  • Hypertension - Great fat burner.
  • Diarrhea - K@k daai vet weg.
  • Vomiting - Spoeg daai vet uit.
  • Headache - Forces rest and with that no food to mouth.
  • Rash - The more you scratch, the more calories you burn.
  • Urinary frequency - yes , water retention is a real beeyatch.
  • Facial oedema - Can get you a job as Alvin in the next chipmunk flick.
  • Unpleasant taste - Eat less and weigh less.
  • Urticaria - The more you scratch, the more you lose.
  • Impotence - Who needs sex when you look good and can ride in elite bunch.
  • Changes in libido - more time for long rides.

Am I the only one who sees no issue here ?

If you dope to do a sub 5 Argus you probably deserve a ban

You missing the point, the sub5 arguser would not even know that he "doped"

All these guys complaining about a Vet getting tested, are scared that you are next?

Nah, just seems like a waste of money

Ok puzzled then, I would see it as follow.

Junior sees dad popping a pill before a race:

Junior: "Why are you taking those pills daddy?"

Dad: "Ag, just for that extra oomph son"

Junior gets dropped on the race and is miffed because daddy does so good.

Next race junior recons he should also maybe try daddy's pills to help him and junior wins the race.

Two outcomes; junior dies at young age or gets busted for doping at Elite level.

The product he would have taken is Phen375, a well known diet/weight loss product.

Used to be sold in Clicks and Dischem, etc (not sure if it still is).

Pinned for taking a diet pill. What’s next, being banned for drinking too much espresso?

Perhaps you are over dramatising this.

How about a fat guy decides to lose weight because he has big hills to ride, goes to Dischem and buys a tablet that guarantees rapid weight loss, he decides to buy the bottle or box because he has "big hills to ride"

He is not in the front bunch , never makes the podium and probably never heard of doping before, he gets pulled out randomly as random middle of the packers generally don't care what they take, the drug testing peeps decide they need to look good in the eye of the cycling public, take the gamble and boom, they won another battle for the cause of CYCLING.

Let's not forget, cycling is the real winner here.

Goodness me, at this rate they are going to make more and more totally oblivious yet good people look like dopers and criminals.
