Road bike weight

Hi Guys

I know that a good weight for a road bike is probably around 8kg but when should you seriously start to think of cutting some off?

I'd say for those that enter events and want your average over 30km at least.

Just want to make sure that my bike isn't too heavy :)

Thanks

You start cutting weight on your bike when you have no more weight to cut on your body.

True.

And also...

8kg is very much nearer recreational than light weight. Mid 7's would be good. 8k's ain't bad per se (pending the price and spec of course), but it's not "good"

If you weigh 80kg and your bike weighs 8kg you will have to maintain 200W to get your 30km/h avg for the duration of the race...if the race is flat all the way
