Yes, and no, still alive.

Shew, thats a  big one!!!

On what trail was that?

Yeah, a decent size, measured up against the wheel, it's about a 29er.  ;)

Was on Welvanpas Black.

An "Epic" S-Werx rider would never have picked that up!

Out at Howick / Karkloof the other day exploring the trails. It was real hot.  Came across a trail with a name board 'Puff adder trail'.  Looked cool so headed off over the rocks. Few meters down the trail my imagination got the better of me.  Thinking there must have been a reason what they called it that.  Turned around and headed back but every piece of bark, stick or log thereafter looked dodge.

This made me chuckle. I built that trail, and yes, there’s a good reason it’s called that. We were working at a rock section near the Karkloof end and saw a huge puff adder in the leaves a few metres off to the side. It slowly made its way into a hole near a log. Then the next day we were back, and we were clearing two lines around the rocks. After sweeping both sides one of my helpers discovered what was probably the same snake hiding in the little island between the two lines. We’d been working less than a metre from it for more than fifteen minutes without noticing. When finally disturbed it again moved slowly off to the same hole. It was very docile, and I’d be surprised if it actually bit anyone.

But that was years ago now! Anyone seen it since then?

Firstly, awesome piece of trail.  It is legendary in these parts, ride it regularly and it hurts me every time.

I will admit that every time I enter the trail my senses go on high alert for the namesake of the trail. I have never seen one though. Must admit it hard to see anything through the blood and sweat at the time

I was riding between Arniston and Bredasdorp next to the recently harvested canola fields .I will bet you my new DS bike if you don,t come across a dead cape cobra .On this occasion it was chasing something at speed and as my front wheel came into it,s path it looked like the snake turned around midair ,wheel hight, faster than my brain can calculate what to do .On that day i came 2 live cobra,s and a dead one
