I don't feel like reading from the start so a quick question. If I visit the gym and use a sports watch to track my swim what points will I get if I do a 60 min swim session with an avg hr above the 70% threshold

1 - will I get my 100 points only for the gym visit

2 - or will I get the 300 point for 60min above 70%

I know I will get a gym visit against my name to count towards the rolling 36 visits I have to do

Does your watch record HR when you swim??  Most don't !!  With a garmin you have to wear the HRM-Tri strap to separately record HR which then combines it with the watch data once uploaded to garmin connect.

I think I saw on another thread you just bought the Sunnto?  So first need to check it will record HR whilst you swim.  If it does not then you will only get 100 points.

When I swim and do not record HR, I get 100 which is sometimes recorded as a gym swipe and other times as a speed workout.

Thanks. haven't tried it yet but the watched is supposed to record in the water. It has the wrist HR but will get the strap if it doesn't work properly. My expectation is that sometimes it'll not pick the hr correctly and it'll be just a gym visit.

Does your HR even hit 70% max during a swim, not a swimmer so a serious question, it does not *look* that strenous.

I get 300 points when swimming more than 60 minutes using my Garmin 735xt with swim strap.

Then, by extension, staying afloat and not drowning out at sea should be a doddle... we know this isn't the case though

On the Garmin fenix, the minute you start a swim workout, the wrist HR is automatically disabled. Once though, when i left my SWIM strap at home, and in the eternal search for truth, I experimented, and started a the workout as a run, and hallelujah, it worked, though the readings were wonky as hell.

My swim from last night (yes, I'm pretty slow)

I have been having a lot of issues with my Garmin Edge 305 not being picked up by Garmin Express to upload data to Garmin Connect. (I think it may be Garmin's way of encouraging us technological dinosaurs to get with the program and update the tech... Either that or Windows 10 and the Edge are no longer compatable) so this morning I took both the Edge and my S7 with me on my run.

Both recorded HR and when I got home I tried to sync the Edge with Express with no luck. Would not connect even though I uploaded a run last night on the same PC running Windows 10... I was however awarded 200 points for averaging 77% of HRM from the Samsung workout that was uploaded. Guess I'll save myself the hassle and start carrying my phone instead of the Garmin when I run...

I've got no idea what my avg heart will be in the pool but I should hope at least 70%. I do 1500m in around 28min fairly comfortably

I struggle to get my heart rate up in the pool so don't get points for a swim (other than the gym visit)  With cycling on the road, I can manage 70% for 30 min, but can't get 80%.

With running I can just jog on the flat road and I get over 80%

For me my heart rate fluctuates a lot with different temperatures so the hotter I am the higher my heart rate will be.  Need to dress warm if I want my points.  I think with swimming I just don't get hot enough.

When I first started cycling I could barely do 30 minutes @ 70% heart rate. A few months in I could do a 3 hour race at average 87% of max HR. It comes with time.

Same thing with the swimming, when I started at the beginning of the year I couldn't swim more than 200m without feeling like I was drowning, now I'm reasonably comfortable up to about 1500m.

Received my new Team Vitality shirt today, to replace the old orange one. Very nice fit, bit a bit tight (for a Large). Turns out they sent me a woman’s shirt while the delivery note says mens.

They claim it’s the same kit that Team Di-Data uses, so I hope it will male go faster, like a red bike.
