HOLY SMOKES !

the leaders have just past 500km in UNDER 24hrs!

EDIT:

this is going to come down to who can sleep the least.

I reckon Sutherland is the aim to nap for maybe 2 hrs.

Then it is balls to the wall. Sleep for 2 hrs in 50 .... thats next level stuff.

I actually don't think so.

the leaderboard projection at at about halfway is for 47hours.

last year it took 71hours.

To do it in anything under 60hours means finishing before midnight on friday.

You can get away with no sleep for that sort of time. 2 nights with no sleep been done plenty and plenty of times in adventure racing which goes on for way longer. if anything 1 or two 30minute catnaps.

so at this stage of the game, let's go down the current leaderboard.

let's go with the third option:

He either travels a CRAPLOAD or is able to do some weird Zwift type virtual courses a lot.

either way he has ridden about 60 hours/1700km  a month for the past year, so munga no big deal

looks like DB is out   :(

chatted to him earlier.

medics picked him up, he can't hold down any food and has zero energy.

Really bummed for him, I did a few training rides with him and he was super strong even with his tank (loaded bike)

So according to the Live Feeds on FB, Riccardo Stermin is out of contention, I presume because he got outside assistance? However Jeanie will get\got assistance from the official race mechanic for her mechanical so that means she is still in contention? Kudos to the rider that had a ingenious idea to use a piece of space blanket so that the axle could be tighten on her bike. Sounded like the axle thread stripped or something.
