Well that would be the ownership ito financial and legal responsibility but I'm not sure the creepy Dane has in fact taken ownership hence the need for a main sponsor.

However looking at things from a purely sacrifice and commitment perspective this team does not exist without Doug Ryder making the effort.

"Riis and his long-time business partner Lars Seier Christensen were due to take part ownership of the team, penning a 'letter of intent', but as of the beginning of September, Doug Ryder was still full owner of the team, according to the Danish press."

So you would have heard Richard’s chirp of Louis off to join to the Circus.

Makes me think a rewrite of a popular song, is on the cards (Nellie, the Elly-Funt):

To Bombay a traveling Circus came, they bought an over-rated GC-man and Louis was his name

One long stage he attacked the Peloton

And off he rode to The Ascent

And was never seen again

Oh...

Supporting Louis has become like supporting Cyril - you know in there somewhere is the ability to do great things and you hope that the next event will be the one where the animal comes out.  But when the opportunity presents, and the dust has settled, you're just left feeling bloody frustrated again.

The kid should have stayed with Copeland.

I dont believe Louis has it to be honest.

He is getting older and not improving, compared to the up and coming younger riders he isnt there.

The other problem is that it takes consistency in performance to be a GC contender, he has shown many times that he might have a good day or two but doesnt have enough of them to be in contention.

Hopefully he proves me wrong, I wouldnt mind that at all, Im just not going to hold my breath waiting for it to happen.

I was acyually wondering this the other day and then decided that it was best to just let NTT go quietly into the night.

Their race plans have been questionable, their team selection/contract purchasing has been dismal and they can't seem to get the most out of their riders.

Sometimes it is best to walk away. I think the NTT (or whatever guise it has been) horse has been flogged.

I don't like saying it,  but it's a bit like that old sail boat you inherited from your parents. It just costs too much to maintain it and it's never quite sea worthy enough to leave the harbour

tweet deleted...

what did it say?

It spoke about how NTT is 20th and not in the top 18 WT teams, so by the UCI regulations would be hard pressed/not able to keep their WT license anyway.

"Well, I can not afford it, and I can not understand why someone takes it for granted that Lars should pay it all," he said. "To think that Lars is just paying because he is who he is, is a wrong attitude to have. Why should he? It has never been discussed

...because he's a billionaire into cycling. what more reasons could we need?

I can see Riis letting it burn, and then buying the licence with Lego money, and then building it back up block by block. just hope some of the saffers can get a look see in

Billionaires don't become Billionaires by throwing money down the toilet..

At this moment there will be zero benefit from a marketing perspective to sponsor the team.

oh, well looks a bit more complicated than that.

they might be 20th, but with CCC(16) merging with Circus (18) that will bump them up one.

plus alpecin fenix have one star who has them at 12th without a WT licence and doing any Grand tours.

now here's this one - they are somehow above movistar and israel start up nation, which puts them at 17th on the WT list - but with only one race to go and both of them with a rider high up in GC that could change. incidentally NTT didn't seem to take Vuelta GC seriously, Mader is top rider 43mins back

Is that over a 3 year cycle?

I'm not clued up and don't really have the inclination to do the research.

I think NTT is a waste of money and a WT license. They behave like a big team but get no results and don't go up the road in futile breaks like the small teams.

They don't target a jersey, they just sort of exist in the peloton
