Friction Facts did a comprehensive test on a range of lubes, both Squirt and Smoove came out in the top results overall.

I’ll say stick with that. Ta

Nice articles.

Personally I use Smoove. I always clean the chain properly before application, applies the lube on the chain whilst working the links by hand (I remove chain completely for cleaning and application) and detest riding in the wet.

The article explains why I get good results from Smoove.

I'm not at all concerned about "resistance", I'm strong enough to overcome that 😋, besides its a bit more exercise gain that you get for mahala.

I'm more concerned about which one will make my chain last for ever .... 🤪

And also like @BaGearA said, the one that is the least magnet for k@k .... ☺️

I love nudging Diesel about his hatred of Spez bikes, but arguing with him about Lube is like arguing with Nino on what it takes to win an XCO race.

To be dead honest he has mellowed on the big S with time. The first ten years after they poached Susi from the Cannondale racing team triggered him into infinite arguments that could only be ended by needing a riposte to a JBornman technical response to a chain query.

what sort of "Dyno Jig" are you referring to? A simple BOCLE (Ball On Cyclinder Lubricity Evaluator) or HFRR ( High Frequency Reciprocating Rig) testing according to ASTM D6078 and D6079 for low viscosity Lubes and Falex Pin and Vee block methods ASTM D2625, D2670 and D3233 methods for more viscous lubricants and fluids are established, industry standard tests. Why do you need a "dyno jig..."?

I luv it when you talk forren.

Let it be known, I have looked into his bedroom window many times late at night while he is sleeping, and he has a few pairs of S-Werxs PJ's with framed posters of S-Werxs Epics on the walls .... but you never heard this from me.

Squirt and only Squirt

Must get it to soak into the chain roller @ 1 drop per link method.

Chain must dry for 2 hours before riding.

Never Degrease. Never Remove Chain from Bike.

Clean with Dry Rag Only

(Don't change Rotation Direction) (Don't Invert Chain )

Lube Every Ride or every 40Km if doing Short Rides.

I have 10Speed Chain KMCX10 with 14590Km Measures less than 0.5% wear.

You must be going through lube like I go through coffee.
If you stop cycling, Squirt will take a stock price dive.

If I had to do that, I would have to lube 10 times per WEEK.
Nope.

KMC 11 spd chain

Wipe with dry cloth once a week then drop of lube on each link. Dont ride the bike until the next day.

Just over 3000km and my chain wear tool shows no wear yet.

My opinion is that you dont need to lube after every ride unless you're riding in some rubbish conditions.

Edited a second time to ad

I do between 150 - 200km per week

Currently on Smoove.
I echo the sentiments of buying local.

Ride around 400km per week.

Lube once a week after I wash my bike.  Leave 24 hours to settle.
Wipe the chain off with a wetwipe after every ride.

I found that Squirt just don't last as long as smoove and it tends to gather more gunk than smoove.
