Eventually got my gravel bike .... took it for a spin today and hopefully do some exploring.

Love this bike so much. But even with a few days sun drying things out , it doesn’t resemble anything even close to SA gravel. And if it does, it’s a about a 1km or stretch only .

Nothing can replace the gravel riding in SA. Really going to struggle here not having that on my doorstep.

It is good however for really crappy little country lanes .... got have a plus side .

You need MUCH skinnier tyres if you want it to feel like ZA

Congrats. Many happy (s)miles. What tyres have you got on there? Monster cassette, too.

I recently got a gravel bike again too.

Shot, can’t live without a gravel bike, congrats to 👌 what did you get ?

Tyres are schwalbe G-one RS 45’s . They definitely roll fast and had no issues with them after 400 plus km’s .

Am used to running the spez sawtooth , that is one bulletproof tyre. The low pressure those tyres could handle without feeling the rim was nothing short of bloody amazing. Learnt quickly an extra 10 psi needed with the G-One’s . Sawtooth’s are such good value for money, albeit a bit on the heavy side. Never bothered me though. The schwalbe do however have a little more grip.

Monster cassette for skinny legs -10/50 .... climb a beanpole 😁
