The bit through Paarden Eiland is now completely deserted on a Sunday morning and the stretch from the Old Castle Brewery to Paarden Riland is so dodgy / deserted / grimy / seedy feeling that I will not ride it again alone. I did not see a single security guard or patrol of any kind, not even at the My City Bus stations. I waited for quite a while for someone to catch up, but nobody did, so I did the much more dangerous (traffic wise) link over the N1 and the Church Street bridge on my way back.

 

It is such a pity, because the rest of the route is absolutely fantastic, with stunning views.

I have that same problem. I ride road on my own alot, and wont go that route when alone.

It's getting pretty chilly here and the sun goes down around 4:30pm so some rides are less picturesque than others :-)

I also do the N1 section to avoid the cycle route through Paarden Eiland into town when cycling from Milnerton.
