Customary damn dam picture.

Then, on the way back, through the house ruins, my handlebar clipped the doorway, and I went down like a sack of potatoes, luckily my knee and head took most of the impact, leaving my bike intact...

Probably due to incorrect sock length...nothing to do with handlebar width.

Had a most interesting week last week ....

Started of with a gentle ride up the Swartberg pass from Prince Albert side

The next morning I took a short ride on the farm .... nice, but way too short.

We then moved to farm just outside Calitzdorp .... only option is to share gravel roads with other vehicles.     I was hoping to ride the 4x4 trail on the farm .... no go.   Still some nice scenery.

Some decent hills for a training ground though ....

Then it was time to relocate to Montagu.  WOW !!!      What a nice place.  And excellent hosts !!

Even got to ride up the kloof to their own camp site.

Once you rode the stretch from the bottom of the Swartberg Pass (oudtshoorn side) through Kruisrivier to Calitzdorp, you will forever call it the valley of a thousand hills. Those KZN guys just have no idea! I know a mixed team couple who used to book a cottage there for the last month of hard training before doing the Epic. Their ride was THAT road, and THEN the Swartberg Pass before turning back. After that they just tapered and enjoyed the Epic.

That the same stretch you do with 36One past the dam?

Need to say a few thousand more times ... then maybe I will have another rush to the brain and try it again ....  :cursing:

PS - Interesting how that ride has changed my "perception" and approach to other "hills" .... hills I would not have attempted before suddenly is done with so much easier.

Set out this afternoon with good intentions. After about 5km of riding into a headwind I started feeling not so good and not long before I realized something was wrong.....the CTCT training is going to take a knock.....this was supposed to be the start.[emoji848][emoji5]
