Yes i know what you all going to say ride in a group, I was last guy off a group on the N1 this morning before woodstock bridge. I was mugged knocked off my bike before 6am. phone n stuff stolen . still got my bike thankfully

One guy on side of road I moved to middle lane next thing I felt a smack on the shoulder then was down on the road his buddy came ,made sure I was staying down kicking me hard , they went through my pockets took everything.

They have figured out when the police do shift changes and know when no one is watching , they run towards the railway lines. According to the police they steal for the Tanzanian people take it to the side road cell phone shops, clean the phone undo the lock ,change the network so they can use it in their county and ship them out
To other cyclists, Let me say one thing and listen when I say this they have no regard for your life, to them your life is worthless, you nothing to them all they want is what you have. Your life is nothing! If you fight back they get worse last week someone fought back and was stabbed and killed they, have no regard for your or our lives we are worth nothing to them!

They just want what we have. Sadly after this I have no respect for their race of people. For the elderly gentleman taking staff to work and stopping making sure I’m okay and to let me call my brother to fetch me, true gentleman also checked up later to see how I am
I was at the Woodstock police station to make report when another cyclist was there already, also being mugged from his stuff. Sadly but we can no longer get on our bicycle and ride and enjoy the sport we love. So at the Politicians’ and everyone they says we know about the area just avoid it , ride in groups NOT always that easy. Try ride past there yourself and see what happens. So when are you as people going to start doing something about it, because trust me when I say this, one day will come we will all have had enough and will take revenge ourselves
i am in lots of pain will need new cycling helmet ribs will heal nothing good old pain tablets cant sort out. so im off the bike for now

sorry to hear about your ordeal - this just makes me so bloody angry and have other more colorful words I can use, when will this be addressed? Becoming ridiculous - it's as if we are just sitting ducks and there's nothing that can be done! Surely not!

according to the police its PRASSA property and they cannot move them, PRASSA say police must do their job, police say PRASSA must put up propper fencing but the vagrants just steal it . the cops say they dont have the man power to monitor the area they need more man power  think its just an excuse for politicians to do nothing

You say someone was stabbed and killed last week.... and we still aren't yet at the point of having had enough?😭 We have had enough!

P.S. The shift change excuse makes my blood boil!

We need to bombard all the role players with a constant stream of e-mails, including the Honorable Minister Barbara Greecy.

I will add their e-mails again.

1) mayor.mayor@capetown.gov.za

2) jean-pierre.smith@capetown.gov.za

3) alan.winde@westerncape.gov.za

4) wesley@pedalpower.org.za (useless to mail them, does not reply)

I am voting for jungle justice..... count me in

I read a news report this morning about the law in SA that now makes this kind of comment on any online social media platform prosecutable in SA. People can and have been arrested and been sentenced to hefty fines and jail time for calling for violence regardless of the context of the original post. This is dangerous territory to tread that is best avoided on an online forum.

You mean to say in SA people can get prosecuted for crimes? That is welcome news to me!

to clarify, what happened to the OP is reprehensible and should be dealt with by the appropriate means. Calling for street justice is not the solution. Holding the responsible people to account should be the way to go as is the case. I get the frustration, but the world is changing before our very eyes. We sadly can't speak our minds anymore. Ask Jeremy Clarkson.

You know what I'm saying.
Go out and commit a crime, and see how far you get with not being prosecuted. I'd say pretty far. Then go online and do a "Penny Sparrow" and try make it to Friday.

That's all I'm saying. People are being prosecuted for easily prosecutable offences because no-one has to actually "do" anything.

Anyone got contact details for the esteemed Chairman of the PPA? I think he/she should be included in this matter.

I included Wesley Carr in my mail to Winde, JP Smith, Geordin Hill Lewis and others on the 14th of Nove. I still have to get even an acknowledgement from him. He is noted on the PPA website as the contact for "Safe Cycling Enquiries"
