Thats good to know. They were not painted this morning when i took photos. Hopefully it is the roadfixing team that marked it for removal.

Edit, not road crew, a caring fellow cyclist. Thank you

That might be it I reckon. They’ve caught me out once, ever since then I know to pay attention. Its on a roadsection that is a darker shade of asphalt, so for me, I always know its coming. But ja, if you dont ride there often, those bumps will easily catch you off guard. Its quite terrifying to think what happened.

I ride that road so often, its my go-to for base miles. Really nice wide shoulder. But you still have to be waky. And with summer fast approaching, those bloody slithery things will be just another obstacle to avoid.

I also cycle (commute) this route often and am very aware of these two lumps of asphalt in the emergency lane, I'm sorry I didn't try and report it long ago, they have been there for more than 12 months now.

Out on the road, I certainly feel like that more and more..........and it is not a good feeling.

I have some good news for a change. Crossing the R27 this morning by Table Bay Mall heading East, I stopped at the red traffic lights and heard a bus behind me. I look over my shoulder and see a Golden Arrow bus at the front of the line. One of those conjoined jobbies where two busses become one. The light turns green, and I have ptsd from an encounter with one of those big, blue taxis a.k.a. MyCiti on that stretch of road. So I clip in and slowly amble off, nodding at the bus to go and I will pull in behind. He toots at me and obliges me to go. I hop onto the pavement on the other side and he passes with another friendly toot. My last 1km home was much more pleasant than it normally is.

Nice one

(I call that mode of transport a circumbendibus)

Those 2 bumps are circled with yellow road paint and there is a marking on the road indicating said bumps. Cycled there 3hrs ago. It is right opposite the brewery entrance, Saggy Stone, I think.

Edit: now that I think about it, the yellow markings weren't there on Monday evening. So maybe it was done after the fact. Sad to hear of a death in the cycling community, irrespective.

Two weeks later

Yellow paint markings still in place

"PASOP" painted on the road as well.

WHERE are the authorities ?  Why is this dangerous situation not addressed ?

Dare I ask: "WHERE is PPA in this ?"

Is there is a number or email we can all contact to report this ongoing dangerous spot ?

My blood boils about this type of lackluster approach from our local authorities .....
