What supplier in the world will take back stock that was paid for 5/10 years prior and then give credit.

Refund is hopeless but wanting a credit is down right desperate especially since that supplier is facing the same challenges given they share a industry.

    Bone head move imo

Sell for cost - 10% locally exclusive

That cuts out shipping admin and unless its 10 million kenda tyres they might actually recoup some money

Could it just be a "step" in the process of closing down the business where they can later say that they have tried all avenues to generate income off old stock that are legally available to them and so doing get to write off some of the company debt?

I am no accountant, so shooting from the hip here.

  2. Best wishes with your next adventure Chris!

Will make a concerted effort to swing around CWC to shake your hand before you walk out the door for the last time.

Working for you at CWC as I left school, not knowing a damned thing about cycling has put me on a love path with the sport and cycling culture over the past 27 years.

Through this "job" I was able to scrape together enough money to pay for my further education, and to set up my life to where it is today.

Through the years of cycling I have made true friends, the kind of persons who you can connect your soul with.

So thank you for taking me into the CWC family back then, and allowing me to grow.

    Regards
    Jerome

  3. Chatting to a friend a little earlier today the thought of a 250 something or other older dirt bike to play with in the bush, and then keep loving the HD is also a good option.

The older bike should in theory be easy to work on and I would not cry if I drop it a couple of times....not that I cry, or have every cried before, nor will I ever cry....#JustSaying

So yesterday we took a ride out to Patensie. As we about to leave my son notices his R1's tyre is flat. A friendly 4x4 dude who is also a biker offered his compressor. Pumped the tyre and it went flat again. Piece of metal in the tyre.

One of the guys in our group hauls out this kit https://www.agrimark.co.za/product/shield-tyre-repair-kit-tubeless?sku=39649_1&gad_source=1

4x4 dude chuckled and said those plastic handled tools won't get you far and he hauled out something similar to this https://www.adendorff.co.za/mac-afric-vehicle-motor-cycle-tyre-repair-tools-gtyrer001?gad_source=1

So the question is, was he right concerning the cheaper kit?

That is a nice kit for the R345 to be spent

Looks like a fun ride and I like the new surface on Bain's but why, oh why, have they removed all parking spots and added all those rocks to the one or two that remain? Surely it can't be in the name of safety?

Look forward to seeing photos of your first motorbike. :D

went to look at the CT Beeemmeerr dealership yesterday .... still a little early for me, we just bought a new family car, so will be saving up a little to get to a GS, though now I have a fair price point in mind and expect the pricing to drop a little more once the 1300's are snapped up locally.

will test ride one closer to the time, but I do like the "fit/feel" of the bike when seated and standing.

  6. Yo yo yo you Riff Raff

So Friday last minute I decided to join a group going over Bainskloof and then back to CT again after a quick lunch stop. I ended up running about 20min late as I was held up at a print shop doing last minute work and realised the bike was running on fumes. This meant I had to chase down the group.

Caught them half way up  Bainskloof .... let's just say the ride was spirited getting there.

I have been planning to ride this route on the bike for a very long time, and have not done it on the bike before. What an exceptional pass to transverse on a bike, the whole loop (Even the k@k@ N1 return) was just awesome.

Now I have been eyeing out the GS 1200's for a little while, and the return leg of the loop I left early with another rider from the lunch stop ( https://opstal.co.za/opstal-eat/ ), who happened to be on a GS 1200. The bike looks like fun, has good acceleration and there is the alure of taking a dirt road or two to just see where it goes.

Seeing as "everyone" has a GS, and it is akin to wearing Crocs where your self respect seeps out through the holes in the Crocs I have brushed off this urge.

Accidentally I have bought a pair of Crocs, and they are ridiculously comfortable ... I have even worn them in public, so maybe I am ready now to try out a GS for a decent test ride.

The other thing is, with the GS you can do far more mileage on a tank, with the Fat Bob I am sitting at 250/270km off a tank and hoping to find a petrol station nearby.

The loop taken and a link to where I joined up with some of the group https://www.instagram.com/reel/C1cf2yzIihM/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZAimage.png.fe6a6f82a8a61fe02de17d4e6f887d44.png

Yoh dude, been looking at specialized and s works helmets since this thread and they really do look good. Like f&$king good.. 😳🤣🤣

go accidentally buy yourself one or two ... and if you want to freshen up the inner padding after a season of riding you can readily get the new pads from a Spez dealer and it is also well priced.

Oh, also DO NOT try on a pair of their shoes while you are there, you may also accidentally end up buying a pair.

"How much does le bike hub make out of this?"

I certainly hope they are making enough, and a good bit more as a reward for first creating this site and evolving it to where it is today.

My son is now at an age that I can start teaching him to ride a roadbike. Will keep to empty parking lots for a while but managed to grab this bike from a colleague for NZD1,000 (roughly ZAR10k)

It has 40,000km on the clock, but brand new tyres and is well maintained. A couple of dents and scratches. Perfect for a learner bike.

We have one of these in shop today.... Looks pretty good. Guy testing it says quite a bit down on HP, suspension not bad, same as Showa. price is quite a bit lower than other rally bikes.

Would be curious RE spares / parts for the KOVE's as I see they are more JHB based.

    Welllllll......

The only shoes that fit me properly is from Specialized.  I only use Specalized's spare tubes (smallest size, while still being a proper spare)

I have convinced myself that is sort of okay .... on other brands of bikes.

Best still is a the owner of a local bike shop, that is an authorised distributor of a couple of other brands .... but his weapon of choice for events is a Specialized (with the stickers removed).

In reality, only keyboard worriors get upset by these things .... the real rides get together after the ride and share their trail stories.

Beside the Spez Helmets, their shoes are awesome ... also been through two pairs of those, and will get another Spez pair again.

Hope no one I know who rides a Spez will see these posts.

R1150 buys you the Spez Align II, with MIPS in an array of colours.

Helmet testing institute has it in the top 20 of ALL bicycle helmets in terms of test results.

    It also looks good.

    https://freewheel.co.za/products/align-ii-mips

So, for me, that is the 'base' model I compare all helmets too. I have been using one as my road helmet for nearly 3 years.

My take on this is general knocks, miscellaneous falls off the shelf, being dropped or knocked off the coffee table, the kids kicking it etc....  3 years ish of small knocks, drops etc coupled with sweat, polystyrene being exposed to sun etc and constant use says it likely has some degeneration issues/hairline cracks and won't work as optimally as it should.

The Align II with MIPS makes it an easy sell at roughly 340zar a year

I like knocking the Spez brand, but their helmets are the bomb bomb ... in fact my last two helmets have been Spez ones, and my next may well be one again too.

Why am I obsessively looking at helmets even though I have one that I’m very happy with.?!

how many helmets do you all have.?🤣

No one should judge another by the no. of helmets they own.

I only have one cycling helmet at a time

On the motorbike I have a collection of  6 already purchased over a period of 2 1/2 years ... granted 3 of those helmets are for other persons use.

Given the above, I need a new cycling helmet too now :P
