I have an idea for a new thread...

My toppie retired in August 2019. He has always been an active person with an addiction to exercise. When the gyms closed for lockdown he turned the little granny flat I lived in at their house into a home gym. He built a bike to permanently stay on his IDT with spares he had lying around. He sends me this pick the other day of the small blade off that bike. It wasn't new when he fitted it but it was still in good condition. He just said to me "many many hours".

Sheez, more wear on that ring than Paris Hilton has on hers.

Jeeze that asymmetric wear is strange. You should get him some dual-sided power meters...

Kind of makes sense (to me, I might be wrong) if you think about why oval chainrings exist. I wonder if it would help even out the wear if you periodically moved the chain to the next tooth.

Ja it is. We were wondering why. The big blade isn't like that, so not sure what's up.

Dual-sided power meter, um yeah those cost more than what my employer manages to scrap together to pay me each month.

From all his triathlons and TT riding he has a pretty smooth action. It is a sugino brand, not sure on their quality. He replaced the whole crank with a shimano because the pcd of that small ring is different to shimano rings and he has plenty of them. So lets see how the next one wears.
