Geez. For 6k you could have bought some sick hope brakes. Ive gone the shitmano route for the last four years. Stop when you pull. No real modulation if you compare it to hope/trp/code. Eventually listened to some of my mouthy friends. I should have bought hopes long ago. Also. Any colour you want... Except green.

My M6000 was a bloody light switch for sure, but the M7000 and M9000 have both power and fine control, while I cannot compare them to Hope personally, what you are describing is not how the brakes are feeling to me.

That was the 2nd thing I noticed when getting this new bike 6 months ago, brake control, that cheapie hard tail was 0 9 or 11. You were either moving, stopping or skidding never slowing down.

The XTR feels a tad more comfortable with the lever adjustment, so finer placement control and probably twice the fine braking control I had with the SLX. I would not mind trying a pair of hope brakes, but these have been raved about for the better part of 2 years by a good friend and a 17+ year ridding veteran as well my mechanic.

While I do not doubt your experience or opinion, also not going to ignore that of those I know personally whom have loads more experience than I do. 6k is no small amount of money so if you going to spend it on what is effectively 1 component the advice of those you trust carries the most weight.

If was to pay 6k then it would be on hopes.

However I know lots of people who love their shimano brakss. Just one thing. Dont turn your bike upside down. Some how shimano sucks in air and you will need to rebleed them

Done that a few times with my SLX already, sometimes to clean the bike properly ya gots ta turn it around...[emoji23]

What's trickstuff? Brand, genre, expensive pretty stickers?

Isn't that the whole point to this thread though, posting what you have bought so a person has their 2min of internet fame. We have all done it.

This, discovered that on a trail-side fix (with bike upside down). Going down the trail was quite interesting.

Sram/Avid gets a lot of flack for their reliability, however my experience with Shimano hasn't been any better. Inconsistent brake feel on longer descends, requiring bleeding every 3 months. Compared to Sram, I had more issues with them, but the bleeding process always yielded results whereas Sram, it requires a bit more effort to get them working properly again.

Nice little parcel from France - with proper postage stamps on it - like in the old days - for a pair of retro gloves for Eroica.

One of my aunts offered to crochet me some once, either in wool or plastic (made from plastic shopping bags) ???? She said it was just like crocheting toilet paper dolies (sp)

Just kidding, very nice....Actualy one of my first ever pair of cycling gloves looked exactly like that, although probably a local rip off of the French original.

I have little doubt that the French one is probably from Pakistan or India :whistling:
