Finally bought myself a 29er carbon hardtail once more. Never used my road bike and thought this would make more sense as a type of gravel/road/commute bike

Considering how relatively cheap it has been- i'm stoked with the outcome.

Still a work in progress...

I may or may not have lost it and went overboard...

Split and parted out my bikes and built a new machine:

Silverback Slider 150mm 29" prototype asymmetric frame - testing this, not available YET

Fox Float Trunnion rear shock

Reynolds TR309S Carbon 29" wheelset

Fox Float 36 Elite 150mm fork

XFusion 150mm dropper

Shimano Zee brakes

Icetech rotors 180mm F/R

35mm Sector Trail bars, 45mm stem

Borntobefast enduro lockon grips

Ryder Copy Spez saddle (not sure I like this yet)

To accompany this I also got a Fox dropframe helmet

I'm running a mix of tyres since my back end clearance on the prototype does not yet allow my Rekon 2.6"

GX Eagle drivetrain

No decent photos of the complete yet.

Piece of shoe lace is lighter........., more so if you use your actual shoe's lace

Indeed. cheaper too!

But my shoes have ratchets and no matter what shoe lace you show me, it won't be as beautiful as this.

Nor can a shoe lace hold my quick links so smartly.

Oh, and a shoe lace cannot loosen the valve nut thingie - that nearly ruined my ride the other day when I had to tube my tyre.

And now that I ride tubeless on the road too, it will go with me on every ride.

True, but being a tool does not make it the right tool. Nothing wrong with getting the right tool.

Honestly, if weight is you'll your concern, the difference between the right tool and the shoe lace is a laxative.

Having used my trail-side (to help another rider) I am super happy with this tool from Woolf.

carrying two sets of quick links (Maritz and I have different gear/chain setups), and also being a tire lever ....

Very true, just because something can be used for a job does not mean it should be used for the job! I carry the One Up plug and pliers kit with me - it's about as close as you come to a full size master link pliers - it's expensive, but a pleasure to use.

I saw that frame at EWC1 - it's different, but flipen nice! Hopefully the raw alu will be a colour option on the production frames?
