No one should get the reward in my opinion. The two security guards from Carpets complex were on watch when marietjie got stolen. The same two are the ones who got the bike back near Grand Central, apparently the guy who was riding the bike left the bike with the one guard and went to go buy air time and then disappeared. Very suspect/dodgy if you ask me. They can be glad the security company for the complex was not fired by the managing agent.

I think these "good samaritans" stole the bike, sold it for lets say R200 or R500 or maybe even a R1000 to someone they know, saw the flyers with the reward at the complex thinking how much more they can get, orchestrated a plan and phoned Carpet early this morning to say they found the bike right after the two finished their night shift and on their way home. I could be wrong, but some "dumb" people turned out to be quite clever in my experience. There's just to many coincidences in this whole story.

Now they looking good for getting the bike back when actually they weren't doing their job when marietjie got stolen. I don't know, I could be wrong and in all honesty hope i am wrong.

Edit:

Another thing, the original pedals was still on, i would think they would have replaced it with cheap flat pedals. Traveling every day with the original pedals with normal walking shoes on a ss for two weeks would have been no fun at all.

I agree the story sounds fishy.

My problem is i cannot accuse anyone without having proof.

And if i dont pay the reward doesnt matter if it were them or not;

They know where i stay and they know the system and complex inside out.

They can make things difficult and target me...

Agreed carpet I said I'll pay the reward and so be it, I obviously am not glad I'm paying the same bastard who stole it but so be it, as you said they know where you live your routine, everything clearly they have no regard for the law so nothing left to do but SMILE AND WAVE,

To say thank you for finding the bike a lovely Chocolate cake (laced with cyanide) would seem appropriate........

Scores level at half time and good guys win at the final whistle.

Good news. I think you must still keep heads up. They might think it is a good idea to do it again (to keep their enterprise ticking over). Make it clear that there cannot ever be a bonus again without an arrest. Then their tjommie cant "run away" all the time.
