Die man van staal with English simulcast on the radio.

Back in the eighties. A family member had just started grade one. It's athletics day and the whole family is watching. He's a mile ahead in the 80 metres. Near the line he suddenly goes into slow motion. Ends up stone last. His dad goes bananas. "What were you doing ?" His reply. "Toe ek naby die lyn kom , toe is ek die Man van Staal."

For one of my birthdays I got a Casio 5-function Digital watch.  With a stopwatch.  Die Man van Intersek could only stay invisible for 15mins I think.  I used to time him and was extremely disgusted when I realised 15 TV minutes was nowhere near 15 Real minutes.  Later on that year I subsequently also discovered that 50 Casio meters Water Resistant was also equivalent to about 2 real meters.....

Methinks the old men who used to censor our TV never allowed us to see this episode of Buck Rogers...

David Bowie was on the soundtrack if I remember correctly.

That sentence alone deserves to be on the "who remembers" thread... I used to love going there

There was a diving bell thing that 'went down under the sea' - remember that. And the whale skeleton. Gees, I just went back in time to the late 80's.
