Cape Town Cycle Tour 2020

Long Wheel Base

Recommended Posts

I've sent them a tweet, they replied within minutes that I should log a service request. I am going to do so, Hopefully it's seen to before next week. Those holes are guaranteed wheel breakers and worse for humans ofcourse...

They are really quick, 48 hour turn around.

Chappies was chaos today but was actually quite comical. After a year of hard training and being blown away by the savages at 6am it was my turn to feel like Froome!

If the weather next Sunday is anything like today, then it may well be the most perfect CTCT EVER.

Millers point to smitswinkel was quite windy

Well this is going to be interesting.. The leader of "Gatvol Capetonian" who is currently on a hunger strike outside Parliamant has posted this...

Can someone with better IT skills than me please post this on the idiots' Facebook. Many of those charities do amazing work in the areas he is fighting for. And below isn't even fresh news.

"Over the past 17 years, the Cycle Tour has raised in excess of R109-million for its two beneficiaries. 2018 will see in excess of R10-million distributed to them and numerous charities rely on this source of income."

there are annoying dips going across this Disa river bridge on Hout Bay... These will catch you out if you're unaatentive. But COCT has fixed them in the past days. I'm amazed. Our city works for us!! ok, not all of us.

Wonder if all the cycling haters recognize this?

I commented something along those lines too.

Personally I feel that using the violence against woman and children outcry in the underprivileged communities for his own political gain is very low, Even by his standards!! I also touched on the fact that a vast majority of the cyclists who take part are actually from the very communities he so dearly wants to uplift, and the stereotype that every cyclists has a super expensive bike is also false!!

Seems like many have said already that.

Not to forget all the charity entries that raise got their own causes.

Guess where all the unused supplies from the cancelled 2017 Tour went...Imizamo yethu.

Maybe move onto the guy who commented that sabotage and drawing pins are the answer

I went out anti clockwise this morning. Mostly because there was a run happening between Kommetjie and Scarborough and I didn't feel like mucking with their day.

Nearly got run over by a peloton in Main Road Muizenberg. Okes just didn't stop at the red light! WTF! That was a bonehead move boys. Respect the rules of the road. Sure 50 odd riders going single file is going to be stupid but running a red at 7:05am.....Come on.

Once heading north it wasn't plain sailing. Impatient motorists overtaking pelotons recklessly combined with those trying to pop out of side streets without looking and taking due care... WOW.

By the time I met up with my lady pal in Newlands I'd already had enough for one day.

Nice easy peaceful spin into town, bit of a Westerly draft through Mouille Point at which point I pick up three Remoras (sucker fish typically found surrounding a sharks mouth)

These three preceded to catch a free ride all the way to Bakoven. Not a hello, Not a "Hey do you mind if we ride along?" just sat there chillaxing, talking about the weather while they removed my pal from my rear wheel. eventually she got gatvol and we decided to move our zone 2 ride to a zone 3 ride and Zone 6'd them.

Over the top of Suikerbossie and she tunes me to just roll lest the Remoras get reattached.

Climbing Chappies was a breeze as there was no riders ascending from Hout Bay.

Descending was another story. I felt like a salmon swimming upriver, dodging cars, buses and a million cyclists engaged in the Armstrong 10 day training plan. The smell of Herbalife was rife in the air

Village Roast couldn't come soon enough but even that place no seems to be frequented by entitled queue jumpers.

I love the Argus but I'm really not a fan of the week leading up to it. Should have removed myself from the Peninsula and gone off to the ToGH instead. Bring on the 8th and quickly may it pass so that life can return to normal. Amen
