Yesterday on my training ride i had to really brake hard on a very steep down hill . My front pads were due for change and i felt the vibration then the noise of metal on metal   . I went to Cycle East to buy Shimano pads but no stock only later in the week . I had a worn pair of pads better than what was in the caliper . I replaced them but also decided to bleed the brakes , a  bad move the short pipe from the syringe  had a crack in it and i lost the fluid to quickly and did not have more to replace . I took my bike to Cycle East today to bleed the brakes . An hour later i was back and to my surprise  :w00t:  they had replaced the pads with better used pads than i had put in , bleed the brakes all for R100 . Supporting  a LBS is definitely worth doing  because of these small favor's that come your way . Thanks Kelly and bike techy Thomas .      .

Mark's Workshop

In the 90's Mark was a youngster working in the back of Peter Alan's shop, when we bought our bikes from Peter.

Three decades later, and MArk is my go to for maintenance !!!

While back I was doing the clean and lube thing on a Thursday night .... shock and horror, the rear wheel bearings are grinding .....  Friday morning I popped in, dropped the bike off.  Knowing they are busy I was hoping they would get to the wheel bearings, but expected to take the bike back the next week for a minor service.  Friday afternoon everything was done

AND, they take the time to show the wear on the brake rotor ... fine for now, but take note and plan to replace it.  It is this attention to detail that wins me over.

Nice owner, doesnt talk down to you because you own a bike under R100k ... Helped me out a couple of times without having to book the bike in.

Out of the 8 bike shops out in Pretoria East, Hot Spot Cycles remains the best in service and knowledge.

And always willing to help.......and if they can't they pick up a phone and find an alternative.
