Thank Goodness! This thread nearly went off the rails..... 8 pages of comments without a mention of the weather😜

that's because people have finally respected that i will always be right.

"it will be partly cloudy and mild"

Traditions are important. I predict a calm day and about 25 degrees, cos I'm not riding this year.

Now dont you dare do a late entry ....

MY theory of even years being great weather years didn't hold up last year, so I will give my weather prediction on the morning when i wake up, but that probably won't be accurate either and severely limited to Sea Point.

Sea Point weather is indicated by the length of the yoga pants

I once had a tour guide explain to us that there WAS a windfree area in Sea Point. She said to look at the trees on the mountain side of the street -- they were growing somewhat curved into the road from the Southeaster. Then she pointed out the trees on the seaward side -- they were growing curved the opposite way, from a Northwester. Now, think about it, she said -- on the white line in the middle of the road -- THAT is where the windfree area of Sea Point is! If your name is Flat Stanley you would be able to feel it too!🤪

Thinking to road trip down from JHB. Flights are just way too expensive. If someone wants to join and split costs, let me know.

Otherwise, if peeps are needing bikes down to CPT and will help subsidise my costs, also give me a shout - 0729472209

Newish to road races (got most of my seeding from mtb races), where would a seeding index of 20 put me for the CTCT starting groups typically? Early enough for a decent crack at a sub-3?

Here’s a breakdown of the average times, 1C is unlikely to go sub-3hr… but if I’m in your group (likely to be) I’ll be giving it my all33143FCC-6EEF-4C19-AB65-9494816987DC.jpeg.9b79461dc699c79542f5936c40cc2ed9.jpeg

Cool visualisation. I did not expect such a rapid drop-off. Looks like if you want to go sub-3 and you're not in A, you should at least be a rider that belongs in A, but just didn't do a proper seeding ride...

Almost sounds like a challenge...

Very cool graph - but can't you combine it for a few years?

2021 we didn't have the best day weather-wise.

In good weather years even groups like 1D and 1E can sub-3 if I recall correctly

In 2020 just before lockdown I did a sub-3 from 1H, I see there were 30 guys in 1H under 3hrs. The weather on the day plays a big role, the 2020 one was a good day. 2019 the wind was horrible and very few sub 3's were achieved
