He’s looked stronger this year than last, but the last few stages he’s been a wheel sucker of note. Very annoying to watch. Hats off to TP for not rising to what must be akin to a mosquito around your ear in the dark. Β

Very poor for a team leader of a big team like Jumbo, actually embarrassing from JV overall.Β

Pogacar made a huge statement today and that is don’t bother turning up for 2026 either cos I am gonna whip you then too.

There may well be other challengers besides Jonas next year if I look at some of the performances of some of the young guns.Β

Also think Jonas is better than his ever been. Even in his riding style. He has a proper team too.

His really thrown everything he has as Pog. If he had more in the tank, he would of attacked more times.

Β

Its just unlucky for him that his up against an absolute generational talent in Pog who's learn so much from the years he was beaten. Its unfortunate for the spectacle of winning the race but you have to admire greatness.

I think it is unfair to criticize JV . Β He is by far better than the rest and is up against the best rider and team in the world . His attacks did not work . At least he tried . Had he attacked again yesterday his critics would have called him stupid .Β

Very, very true, but at least go through and do a (short) pull.Β  100% wheelsucking, nearly 100% of the time does not win him any admiration.

I think given his position it was in his best interests to not pull. It might not make the greatest spectacle but I think he made the right call.Β

This ….

He rode for second and in big team like JV, that cannot be good enough, he had enough of a gap on the third placed rider on GC. Show some fight for goodness sake.Β

Jonas is so good his only flaw is existing at the same time as Pogi..Β

Jonas Vingegaard is a 2 time Tour de France winner, the biggest annual sporting event on the calendar. And his team won all 3 Grand Tours in 2024.

Β Like the mystical thing called Life, one can virtually do everything right in preparation and execution, and still lose.Β
That’s high performance; that’s sport.

Visma had a plan that worked when there were multiple GC contenders in the mix. When you are left with two world class riders alone against each other it is unfortunately man on man and you will be left with no other strategy but to get in the proverbial ring and knock the other guy out. The team β€œsitting in the pavilion” cannot help you much. I didn’t really see JV get in the ring this year but perhaps my view is a bit harsh.

I’m not criticising JV, but watching him on the wheel refusing to pull even for a minute with like 120km still left to go, but leaping on every TP attack and ending up right back on the wheel, is a little annoying to watch. I was rooting for him for a very long time this tour. Certainly not a hater.Β

In a way I agree, but why would he pull his rival, his stronger rival? He must conserve as much as possible to have the best chance at success for himself.Β

I think JV has released resistance (against the current version pog) is futile

Did I watch the same race as everyone else?

Jonas attacked 7 times the other day, from 50km out and all the way to the finish.Β

The next day he attacked at least 3 times pretty early and continued to attack closer to the finish.

He couldn't drop him and if he did he couldn't stay away.

Pog is in a league of his own. IMHO Jonas needs to race more. Race more 1 day races and get used to (or more in tune with?) the flat taps racing that happens these days.

No more sky/Visma train controlling the race and others sitting up accepting it. It is balls out racing.

Being in that environment more would benefit him. But I do think current Pog is untouchable by anyone currently ridingΒ
